“Arrive Alive” During the Christmas & New Year’s Holidays
Campaign to Help Keep Drunk Drivers Off The Road

AKRON, Ohio (Tuesday, December 19, 2023) – Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh and the Summit County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Kandy Fatheree are re-launching the anti-drunk driving campaign Arrive Alive to help keep Summit County roads safe during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Arrive Alive is back with free or reduced fare rides home for people who go out and drink alcohol during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The campaign coincides with National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.

WHAT: FREE or reduced fare rides home during the Christmas & New Year’s Holidays

WHEN: From 6pm Friday December 22 to noon Tuesday December 26
AND
From 6pm Sunday December 31 to noon Tuesday January 2, 2024

HOW: 600 one-time use codes for up to $20 off a LYFT ride
Use code SUMMITXMAS23 for Christmas
Use code SUMMITNYE24 for New Year’s Eve

“Far too often people get behind the wheel after drinking thinking they can drive. That is wrong! Any amount of alcohol can reduce your reaction time and thought process. DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE – USE ARRIVE ALIVE,” said Prosecutor Walsh. “I do not want tragedy to ruin a family’s holiday celebration. Arrive Alive provides a safe way to get home and not put people in danger. I urge people to reserve their Arrive Alive code early and don’t forget to use it,” said Prosecutor Walsh.

“With the holiday season upon us, I want to encourage area residents to please use the Arrive Alive program for a free or reduced-fare ride home if they’ve had too much to drink,” said Sheriff Fatheree. “Don’t let a little holiday cheer turn into a nightmare for you, or for others on the road.”

Summit County residents who need a ride home because they decide to drink alcohol during the Christmas or New Year’s Eve holidays can use a LYFT code for a FREE or reduced fare ride home (up to $20). The codes are only good for the specific period-of-time outlined in the flyer and this news release.

The LYFT code for the Christmas holiday is SUMMITXMAS23, and the LYFT code for New Year’s Eve is SUMMITNYE24.

Arrive Alive was launched in Summit County during the July 4th, 2018 holiday weekend. Since then, nearly 4,000 people have used the service.
