Wooster Vintage Audio - Akron

Earlier in the week, I shared information about the selling of our Akron store inventory. Since then, I've received calls and messages about the future of the Wooster store. So, let me CLARIFY. --- First, though we have had offers to buy the Wooster store, we have no current plans of selling it. It's exploding with business (that's why a few business guys wanna buy it, I'm sure) and we plan on being here to help it continue to grow. --- Next, though our main focus will be on the vintage McINTOSH market, we will also sell reel-to-reel tape machines and floor model consoles. These 3 areas of vintage equipment are our niche. Of course, we will always have a little bit of other brands and pieces of audio gear, as well. --- Then, I've been asked if we are still going to continue with repairs. Absolutely! We currently have 7 technicians who we keep extremely busy with servicing/restoring all kinds of vintage audio equipment. --- Last, I've been asked about opening up a WOOSTER VINTAGE AUDIO store in other cities and states. Though I'm impressed with the confidence people have in our WVA team and what we've built, we have no desire to open stores in other locations. We've learned, with what we do, it's not necessary. With some stores or companies, growth only comes by expansion, meaning more stores etc. We've learned that, with what we do, one location is good enough. Customers will travel to us... our one store. This has been proven. Customers come to us from all over Ohio, and from all over the USA. --- I hope this post CLAIFYS some things. As always, we thank you for your support! -Brian

The Akron location of WOOSTER VINTAGE AUDIO is now CLOSED. A private audio enthusiast from Pennsylvania purchased our entire Akron audio inventory today. In fact, its all loaded and gone. The decision to close/sell the Akron store has been in the works for some time, now. --- In the future, our goal will be to focus on the Wooster store, which is our original location. There, the primary attention will be, as it has been, selling vintage McINTOSH audio equipment (and other high-end gear). Over the past 2 years, the Wooster store has grown so very much. It's definitely a keeper! So, now we can devote 100% of our attention to it. -Brian

I'm currently playing Walt Disney's FANTASIA Beethoven The Pastoral Symphony record a Rotel RP-2500 turntable and the McIntosh 2100 amp and McIntosh MX-115 tuner/preamp. The system is playing through the JBL custom cabinets. Sounds amazing.

Today, I've been playing several different systems so far. I'm currently playing this portable Sony 530 Solid State 7" Reel to Reel player/recorder. It has its matching speakers. This system can be standing or laying down. It's a pretty neat deck.

I told my hubby that I needed a McINTOSH system in our family room... a system of my own... and this is the system that he came up with for me a few months ago. It sounds great! It's the cat's meow 😻😻❤️❤️ Ya like it?

Right now we're both relaxing, while listening to stacks of old records on the Elac record changer... Tony Bennett, The Carpenters and Frank Sinatra.

Saturday I put together this beautiful system. The system consists of a ReVox A78 Ingrated Amplifier and its matching ReVox A86 Tuner, Pioneer PL-12D Turntable, Pioneer Model TX-600 Tuner and a Sony TC-580 Reel to Reel player/recorder. The speakers are a pair of Realistic Nova 9 speakers.

I'm currently playing a Realistic system. A Realistic Intragrated SA-1001 Amplifier, Realistic AM/FM TM-1000 Tuner, Realistic LAB-440 Turntable, Realistic 999 B 7" Reel to Reel player/recorder. The system is currently hooked up to a pair of Realistic MC-1000 Speakers and a pair of Realistic Electrostat-2 Speakers. I love the wooden grain cabinets on 2 of the pieces.

McINTOSH MX-115 TUNER/PREAMPLIFIER - Recently, we added this McINTOSH MX-115 FM tuner/preamplifier to our Akron sales floor. It seems like most of the McINTOSH vintage solid state tuner/preamp combinations we see are MX-113s. It's very unusual to come across an MX-115. Just serviced. Comes with the original wood case with panlocks. $1950. --- Hooked up to a complete audio system, ready to demonstrate. -Brian

This Kenwood system is from the original owner. The only thing that wasn't with it was a turntable. It's an Akai AP-X1 semi-automatic.

The Kenwood system is as follows: VR-206 receiver, CT-201 double cassette player/recorder, CD-203 5 disc CD changer. Speakers consist of a pair of CRS -158 speakers, a pair of CRS-158 satellite speakers, and a CRS - 158 center speaker. Comes with its matching system rack. It does have the front glass door, too. This would make someone a great complete system. Sounds pretty amazing.

$750 for the entire set. Including the turntable, stand and 5 speakers.

NEW SYSTEM

Last week, I worked on a new system. I hooked up a pair of DCM Time Window speakers to the Linn Kolektor preamp and an unknown brand exposed solid state amp. It has yet to be recognized. It's a mystery. I also hooked up this vintage AR XA universal turntable. It has a Shure V15 TYPE II TYPE cartridge. Also I added a Dyna Model FM-1 Tube FM Tuner. Sounds pretty amazing.

I'm currently playing this system. I did a little rearranging. I added a Technics SL-1400 Direct drive turntable to the Hafler 220 amp, and I also added a Phase Linear Model 3300 Preamp. I currently have a pair of Infinity RS5 speakers hooked up. Sounds great.

WESTERN AUTO SUPPLY CO TRUTONE CONSOLE

This is my little "Eye Sore" console. 😆 I've had it for for a long time. I took it home years ago to put in my grandchildrens music room. I was going to paint it and cover the front with Dr. Seuss material. Their room is decorated in all things Dr. Seuss. I never got around to getting it done. So, it traveled down to our Wooster store to play 45 rpm records. I decided the other day to bring it back to the Akron store and play 45s on it here.

For now, I put some Howard's products on it. The cabinet looks much better. Here at the Akron store we have hundreds of 45s, so this little unit will be my go to for playing 45 records. Vicki

SONY stereo corder 530 portable reel to reel player/recorder

Here is a nice medium-sized portable reel to reel machine. I was playing it most of the day on Saturday. At the time, I was playing a 7" reel that someone else recorded of the Beach Boys. Sounds great.

I've started out this afternoon playing the newest system that I hooked up last week. I played it most of last Friday and Saturday. But I wasn't able to play this Sony TC-580 Reel to Reel player/recorder, so I'm playing it now. It's a great 7" inch player. I love to play each of my 7" Reel to Reel players. They sound amazing.

I'm here today until 4:30 pm and on Saturday 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. Enjoy your weekend.
