Eppich House II designed by celebrated Canadian architect Arthur Erickson (1924–2009), was newly renovated and restored last year for its 35th anniversary. Erickson designed a home of cascading glass and steel for Brigitte & Hugo Eppich in the 1979. Completed in 1988; the 6,400 sq ft estate features five bedrooms and five bathrooms and sits on a secluded 1.18 acres. It includes four-bedroom, four-bathroom in the main house, a one-bedroom, one-bathroom guest house, a pool, a hot tub, reflecting ponds, and a creek. It's located at 1056 Groveland Road in West Vancouver’s British Properties, and has been newly renovated and restored last year from furniture to artwork and landscaping. Erickson’s Eppich 1 House is also located is West Vancouver and was designed in 1972 for Hildegard & Helmut Eppich. (Photos: Dan Kirchner / Ema Peter)
Eppich House II is considered Erickson’s most completed work due to its unique use of floor-to-ceiling glass held between steel beams, custom-designed furniture, and stunning landscape. The home has recently been listed by Vancouver realtor rennie for almost $10.8 million. Geoff Taylor, a West Vancouver realtor who represents this listing and Canadian landmark said, “What’s most striking about this home, beyond its unique use of steel and glass, is its timeless, functional design. It is remarkably liveable as a contemporary home.”“It’s also so rare to find something this unique and iconic,” he added.
Hugo and Brigitte Eppich originally commissioned the house and made it their home until 2018 before making way for renovations. Following the home’s original completion, the Eppich children, Monica Feldman, Sonia McLeod, and Gord Eppich, spent several years of their childhoods on the property creating memories. The family have held the role of custodians to this Arthur Erickson masterpiece for 35 years and as a result, updates to the home were made with care. They opted to adhere to Erickson’s original vision, while adding some contemporary elements. The primary bedroom, which originally included a television the size of a suitcase was removed. The built-in beds were also replaced, but the accent walls behind the frame remain. Overall, the home feels brighter, while still having maintained the integrity of the original build.“It’s not just the home—it’s the studio, the grounds, the pond, and the wildlife that they’re going to experience. Going through all the seasons there is quite spectacular,” said Feldman. “I know anyone who buys it will appreciate the space. It’s so beautifully laid out,” she said.
“I think the worst fashion faux pas people make is looking in the mirror and seeing somebody else, or seeing something that isn’t there. I try to be truthful and honest,” says 95-year-old New Yorker Iris Apfel. “You have to play around with an outfit; it’s like doing a painting.” Iris Apfel passed today at the age of 102. She inspires so many but me especially.. Fashion should be about joy, and having fun RIP Icon!
