To fans of our sweet little Alameda outpost on the East End, we are changing things up a bit! Starting tomorrow, our 2318 Central café will have reduced weekday hours. We are now open Monday through Thursday from 7AM until 2PM, and Friday through Sunday from 7AM until 4PM!
(This weekend only, Sat/Sun until 6pm for the Alameda Art & Wine Festival right at our door across from the theatre!)

Our next SIGNAL CURRENT is a single origin, a medium roast, but on the lighter side, from Costa Rica.

There is nowhere like Costa Rica when it comes to coffee cooperatives and Cooperativa de Caficultores de Dota R.L (CoopeDota), which was established in 1960, is one of the finest. It starts with an unmatched commitment to the environment. CoopeDota has a first of its kind certified carbon-neutral mill, which features hydro-powered energy consumption, water efficient eco-pulpers (also called a demucilager), and mechanical coffee dryers fueled by coffee parchment. Nearly 900 producer-members living throughout the canton of Dota within the province of San Jose, Costa Rica focus their attention on farm management throughout the year and then deliver their cherry to the CoopeDota mill where traceability and quality control are second to none. CoopeDota has an equally intricate model of income diversification with a profitable agriculture supply store and tourism department dedicated to showing off coffee farms to visitors. They also roast their own coffee and operate three cafes and a cupper/barista training center.

Hoping to be open soon, grateful for all of the buzz and excitement from friends far and wide who are looking forward, it is so touching and means a lot to feel the support! She created this collection of the perfect sized mugs in different earthy tones that are smooth to hold and oh so satisfying as your hand molds around them. We are in love. 😍

We had the pleasure of enjoying the beautiful brunch at our partner this morning! We are proud to have our locally roasted coffee complimenting the incredible scratch-made menu at Early to Rise in San Francisco.

It may be raining in the Bay Area at the moment, but here is some good news for you. First, it seems like, at least for the next 10 days, dare I say it, the rainy season is behind us after this morning. All the more reason to throw on the rain gear and get out in it! There is nothing more satisfying, than finding a delicious cup of coffee at the end of your journey. Even better, we have starting today, April menu launching! For pastries, you must venture to our stores, but also know that we do have DoorDash for delivery of our in-stock hot items and delicious coffee. We are featuring two very special treats from , our own Kelsey Soule. She is creating a GORGEOUS spring tart, with raspberries and passion fruit curd, as well as on Sunday only, offering her now annual robin’s egg Easter cookies! These will not last and you definitely do not want to miss out! Happy Easter weekend! 🐣🐰🪺

While it would be really so great if we could home deliver your SIGNAL coffee in our adorable little meep-meep ⚡️delivery truck, please know that we now have Door Dash if you really don’t want to get out of bed on these rainy mornings 🌧️ or out from behind the desk except to answer the door. (If you wish to avoid the line and pick up, we kindly ask that you might order from our own online system rather than DD if possible.)

As the look of our SIGNAL bags will soon be changing again, this was a moment where we really established our visuals for what SIGNAL is now. A lot went into the concept for our bag and label: sustainability, our color palette, the hot stamp, the minimalist white bag, and Brendan’s handwriting for the titles, as he started SIGNAL with writing the origins on each bag himself.
Moving forward from here, we will be keeping some elements, but look for a fresh new dynamic identity for SIGNAL to carry us forward. Stay tuned! ✨☕️😍

One year ago tomorrow morning, by dawn’s early light, we opened our location at 2318 Central Avenue in Alameda after nearly a year of delay. It felt nothing short of miraculous. We were and are just so grateful for the local support we have received on both sides of this sweet island, and to all who have ventured the bridge and tunnel to find us in their travels.
We have a wonderful crew at Central, and especially lately, we are feeling the love, as we know folks are choosing local when they choose SIGNAL.
It means so much, thank you Alameda.
