the fog rolled in right before our shoot, so while we didn’t get a beach sunset - we did get the best pnw coast vibes. they are such troopers, so much fun + truly light each other up. Plus Lauryn might just have the most infectious laugh ever - It’s the cutest thing! I cannot wait for their wedding next summer!!

when talking first looks with my couples, the *main* reason I get for not wanting to do one is that the bride wants emotion from their groom when they walk down the aisle - they are worried their guy won’t cry or get emotional if they have already seen them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have *never* had this happen...here’s why:
* if you are marrying an emotional person, they will be emotional, no matter what
* doing a first look is a sweet, private, intimate moment the two of you share together. it is intense and powerful as this is the first time you are seeing each other on the day you will say “I do”.
* when you walk down the aisle, it is THE moment - emotions are high, and it is an intense and powerful moment for it’s own reasons. all of your friends and family are there to watch you promise forever. you are surrounded by your people, marrying your person.

this emotion is one of the most beautiful things + in my experience, if he gets emotional during the first look, he’s crying when you walk down the aisle..it’s not a one or the other kinda deal

now doing a first look isn’t for everyone - and that’s okay!! there are a lot of positives to both approaches, and other options like a first touch as well! these are all great things to discuss with your partner (+ photographer) when deciding what’s best for you + YOUR day!

// we’re in the final stretch of busy wedding season + in the absolute THICK of editing galleries every chance I get. you can bet I’m editing every spare moment I’ve got (lots of 4 am mornings around here these days), while also trying to soak up as much 1:1 Lucas time as I can, hanging out with my big kids and resting when my body demands it - which is increasing each day. pregnancy with a toddler, in the heat of summer + height of busy season is absolutely no joke + as worn down as my body is getting, I’m so thankful to have had a healthy, relatively easy pregnancy thus far...just praying we get through the last 3.5 weeks without bedrest! 🤞🏻

being a mom is my greatest accomplishment, most cherished privilege + absolute biggest blessing of my entire life. I always knew I wanted to be a mom + I’ve been blessed with the best kids there is. God knew I needed them - they have taught me + shaped me more than I knew possible in their own amazingly unique ways. I feel so overwhelming thankful He chose me to be their mom.
