2/29 is Rare Disease Day in hopes to bring awareness and education to rare diseases so I thought I’d share with you a rare disorder that almost killed me.

In February 2014 after having a miscarriage and D&E procedure I developed a rare blood clotting disorder called Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC).

This is first of 3 major blood clotting disorders I’ve developed in the last ten years but I’ll stick to taking about to this one now….

During the surgery, something was cut that wouldn’t normally be an issue, but my blood stopped clotting and I started bleeding and it wouldn’t stop.

I had multiple blood, iron and plasma transfusions and was in SICU for about a week. Jack was not even 2 years old yet, and Kaleigh was only 15.

It took what felt like forever getting the actual diagnosis. The Nurses and Doctors who took care of me at Albany Medical Center were incredible, I feel so blessed to have been so close to such an amazing hospital with the technology and medicine to be able to treat this.

Less then 20,000 cases are diagnosed per year, I know I’m a rare bird 😉

What is the difference between Henna Brows, Brow Tint, Microblading, Powder & Combo Brows? M

All are great options for beautiful brows, but what is the right service for you? 

💰 🕰 A few things to consider are budget and maintenance. How much money can you spend and how much time can you devote to the application, care and maintenance.

What’s the difference between brow tint and henna??

Tint - colours the hair up to 4 weeks and not the skin. It briefly stains the skin during the service until it’s washed off, usually the next day. Can be used on brows and lashes. More transparent then henna, not as full and deep coverage.

Henna - colours the hair up to 6 weeks and the skin 10 ish days. Can only be used on the brows and never on the lashes. More opaque then tint, gives a much deeper and fuller coverage.
