Black Breastfeeding Week was founded by three Black women, Kimberly Seals Allers, Kiddada Green and Anayah Sangodele Ayoka. 2023 marks the 11th year of Black Breastfeeding Week. This year, the theme is: "We Outside! Celebrating Connection & Our Communities.” This theme grounds us in joy and reminds us that we are stronger together. This is a week where we celebrate our triumphs as a community while also acknowledging the challenges and work that needs to be done.

Black Breastfeeding Week takes place annually on August 25-31 and highlights the importance of supporting, normalizing, and educating black families on breast milk and nursing benefits.
