Buying Dad a new grill? How about a new drill? Here a few tips to recycle right this Father's Day:
If you are replacing an old grill, contact your waste hauler or local solid waste department to schedule a bulky item pick-up for the old grill or find the nearest location to drop-off the grill.
Buying Dad a new drill? Don't toss rechargeable batteries in the trash or with the recycling. Make Dad proud and take used rechargeable batteries to the nearest drop location. Find the nearest recycling site at https://www.call2recycle.org/locator/
Replacing Dad's phone or computer? Don't place the old phone or computer in the trash or in with your recyclables. These items can create a fire hazard in the truck, at the recycling center, or at the landfill. Take the items to your nearest drop-off location for electronics recycling, or check with the business where you purchase the new item to see if they take back old devices for recycling.
Happy Father's Day!

We all recognize the recycling symbol. But do you know the meaning?
The Mobius or chasing arrows doesn't mean that an item is recyclable. Each arrow represents a critical part in the recycling process. The first arrow represents collection - when a person places the recyclable item in a curbside cart or drops off the item at a collection site. The second arrow represents the manufacturing of the item into a new product. We are fortunate in Georgia that we have more than 100 businesses that use recovered materials to make new products. Recycling supports jobs and the economy in our state. The final arrow represents the importance of buying recycled products. So look for and buy items made from recovered materials. The final arrow is important in contributing to a circular economy.
Congratulations to the City of Albany Utility Operations Employees of the Month.
