The American Bus Association proudly announces Fred Ferguson as its new President and CEO, starting July 29, 2024. With over 15 years of experience in public policy and strategic communications, Ferguson brings a wealth of knowledge from his VP of Public Affairs role at Vista Outdoor.

TRAVEL ALERT: On Saturday, January 6 at 7 p.m., the northbound lanes of the Thruway (I-87) from exit 17 in Newburgh to exit 18 in New Paltz will fully shut down to all traffic for at least 12 hours so a portion of the damaged Brookside Road overpass in New Paltz can be safely removed over the northbound lanes, weather permitting. The Plattekill Service Area will be closed during this operation. Motorists should seek alternate routes while this work takes place or avoid travel in the area during these times, if possible.

You have to really think, what’s the most affordable way,” said Peter Pantuso, the president and CEO of the American Bus Association, the largest bus trade group in the U.S. “You can put bus service anywhere, and as population densities shift, or as any other trends shift, which is the case in the rapidly changing Lehigh Valley, you can move it around. You can’t move a rail system around.”
