Our fall programs kickoff with Rally Day this Sunday! Remember that worship will now start at 11:00 a.m., not 10 a.m.
Rally Day activities of food, fun, and fellowship start at 9:45 a.m. before church.

Things that impress us just don’t impress God. And compared to God’s glory and greatness, our distinctions are leveled by the infinite greatness of God.
Parker Palmer once envisioned Christian community as a place where we don't get to choose our companions, but our companions are chosen for us.

If all of our religion that we do here at church is not causing us to be more merciful, more empathetic, more loving, and more generous to those in need, then we’ve missed the big picture.

Counting Up the Cost of Discipleship 08/20/2024

Jesus didn’t seek to try and pull the wool over people’s eyes and sell them on a life of ease and comfort if only it got him more followers. No, Jesus wanted people to count up the full cost of discipleship, every sacrifice it would take, everything they’d have to give up and deny to follow after him. But Jesus wanted people to see that it was worth it.

Counting Up the Cost of Discipleship In Luke 9:57-62 we see Jesus breaking every rule of the church growth movement. Jesus has three potential people who are ready t...

When you look in a mirror, don’t you almost always find something to correct about your appearance? James tells us that the Bible is a mirror to our souls. It shows us all our moral flaws and imperfections. If we’re wise, when we look in that mirror, we'll fix everything and make sure we are properly clothed for the day with compassion, gentleness, and patience.

Quick to Listen, Slow to Speak, Slow to Anger 07/29/2024

Sorry for the technical difficulties yesterday that affected our livestreams. I've shared the written sermon text below as well as highlighted some major quotes for any who missed the service.

“Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person they are almost indistinguishable.” -David Augsberger
Kindness is far more likely than anger to lead to repentance and to produce God’s righteousness.

Quick to Listen, Slow to Speak, Slow to Anger As we continue in our series on the book of James, we come today to verse 19 where it says be quick to listen, slow to...

July 21st Sunday Worship 07/22/2024

Some quotes from yesterday's sermon:
The only prayer that God answers 100% of the time is “Thy will be done.”
It may be wise for us, before we ask anything of God, to first take time to remember and be thankful for all the many things God has already given us.
You may not be sincere if you pray to God for wisdom and yet never open up the Bible, this great treasure trove of wisdom that God has gifted you.
We need wisdom if we're going to be serious about living into the Greatest Commandment and loving God not just with our heart, soul, and strength, but loving Him with our mind too.

Can God use trials and tribulations that we face to draw us closer to Him? Consider this quote: "I only pray when I'm in trouble, but I'm in trouble all the time, so I pray all the time." C.S. Lewis says that, "God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world."

C.S. Lewis says that, “Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.” We must be either hot or cold to God. With Jesus, we can either crown him or crucify him, but we are never given the option of being lukewarm to God.

In the parable of The Workers in the Vineyard, everybody is paid the same at the end of the day. The complaints that spring forth from the hardest workers come from one base assumption: that some are worthy of the kingdom of heaven, and others are not. But what if all are unworthy of the wages received? What if all were paid far more than they deserve? What if everything is grace?

June 9th Sunday Worship 06/10/2024

If what we really want more than anything else in this world is love, then what we want more than anything else is God, because God is love. Yes, our appetites are as big as eternity. Nothing can satisfy us but Jesus. As St. Augustine said, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord; our hearts are restless until they rest in you.”

Listen below to hear of the false promises of the pursuit of pleasure, money, power, and fame as ultimate things. They are a chasing after the wind. They do not bring fulfillment.

"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God." -1 Corinthians 10:31

June 2nd Sunday Worship 06/03/2024

"Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world." It is very easy to look outwardly at how Christianity in other countries or other historical time periods has been malformed by its surrounding culture in various ungodly ways. It is difficult to look inwardly and take notice of how our own contemporary culture is misshaping us today.

"But be transformed by the renewing of your minds." If you have allowed God in to your heart to work on you, then you are being transformed whether or not you can even yet recognize it. Just as seeds can spend weeks in the soil growing and building up roots before there is ever any visible sprout, so too has God been laying invisible seeds in your life that will one day shoot forth in visible glory and bear the fruit of the Spirit.

May 26th Sunday Worship 05/31/2024

Last Sunday was Trinity Sunday. We learned how Trinitarianism alone is a belief system that upholds in God unity, love, fellowship, and holiness such that God is perfect within Himself.

Join us next Sunday at 10 a.m. as we begin our summer worship hours and unpack Romans 12:2: "Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

On Sunday we welcomed our new pastor, Rev. Joel Lynn!

A snippet from his first sermon:

"An oft repeated phrase you'll hear in churches these days is that you must have a personal relationship with God. And of course your faith must be your own, and not simply the faith of your parents or your pastor. But faith, as much as it has to be personal, it also has to be corporate, communal. For the early church did not see themselves as a bunch of scattered individuals, but as members of a larger body, as connected to each other as your brain is to your heart and to your legs. And so from the beginning they devoted themselves to fellowship, to gathering together every week."
