It’s that time again to get excited for the annual IPhO VIP Case Competition. This is a great way to grow and expand student pharmacists knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry. This competition provides an excellent look into the drug development process by being able to collectively design a plan to bring a drug to market while focusing on key areas such as Marketing, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Pharmaceutical Sales and Regulatory Affairs. Pharmacists can play a pivotal role and the opportunities are endless.

As promised, IPhO UNM Chapter is announcing the "Non-Traditional Pathways Symposium" which is being held on April 13-15 on zoom. This is a great opportunity to learn about fields that fly under the radar, not just in industry, but in other pharmacy practice fields as well. This event will be co-hosted by APhA, NCODA, and SSHP.

For all those who are interested in lesser-known fields of industry, IPhO UNM Chapter has a big event coming in April. Please stay tuned to the page for more details coming soon.

Midpoint results from the the VIP Case Competition arrived last month. Our chapter received a 16/16 on the midpoint submission! As a chapter, let's do our best as we approach the final submission.

St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is excited to announce our 2020 Virtual Pharmaceutical Industry Informational Session that will be held on Wednesday, October 14th, from 4pm to 5:45 pm MST (6 pm - 7:45pm EST).

During this exciting event our program leaders, along with our first and second year fellows from our industry partners; Allergan (an AbbVie company), American Regent, Daiichi Sankyo, and Pfizer, will provide an overview of Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowships and how to prepare for the application process. The following topics will be discussed:

What is a fellowship?
Why choose a fellowship?
What are the responsibilities of a fellow and Chief Fellow?
An overview of various functional areas within a pharmaceutical company.
Basic interview, virtual interview, and CV preparation recommendations.

The general programming will end with our fellows hosting Webex breakout rooms to discuss their individual position, and answer questions posed by interested candidates.
