Mark Jaffe recently represented the vice president of a State University who was wrongfully terminated after decades of celebrated service. The Jaffe Law Firm filed claims on behalf of our client for sexual harassment and discrimination, constructive discharge, whistle blower protection, breach of contract, etc. Recently, in mediation, this case settled for $250,000.00.

The Jaffe Law Firm is seeking a Receptionist/File Clerk/Administrative Assistant to join our small, busy downtown civil litigation law firm. Our current business hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm. This is currently a 30 hour per week position.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook. Qualified candidate must be able to multi-task, be detail oriented, able to handle a fast paced environment, and possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities include:

-answering and directing incoming phone calls,
-greeting clients,
-distributing and assisting in the preparation of correspondence, pleadings, records, faxes, and forms,
-maintaining a filing system of all client work-product,
-ordering office supplies,
-daily errands to bank and post office,
-filing, copying, scanning, and typing, and other basic administrative duties in general support of all attorneys and staff.

This position may be a good fit if:

-You enjoy a work environment with wide-ranging responsibilities and priorities varying from day-to-day.
-You are seeking an opportunity to explore and learn about a private law practice.
-You take pride in providing great customer service and producing quality work product.

Mark Jaffe recently won a case on behalf of a government employee who was wrongfully terminated, in part, for filing a complaint of sexual harassment against another employee. Initially, the employer determined our client's harassment claim to be unsupported. The subject of the complaint then filed his own harassment claim against our client. In that complaint, he claimed that our client's claim of sexual harassment was slanderous. The employer sided with the perpetrator, claiming our client’s accusations were false and that her actions were in violation of the government’s policy, leading to her ultimate termination. Mark Jaffe argued, in part, that this termination was retaliatory. Our client was eventually awarded a verdict which reinstated her position and status with her employer including back pay and benefits. Our client still has claims pending for sexual discrimination and retaliation against the perpetrator and the government entity before the EEOC.
