We are honored to have won an AIA New Mexico award for Lavaland Elementary. It is a meaningful reward to bring a first class sustainable learning environment to the disadvantaged students of this Southwest Mesa neighborhood for generations to come.
In honor of tonight’s we are doing a little flashback to just before Covid and our most recent Harnar Award, The McCaffrey Historic Trolley Building. We are looking forward to seeing all of the amazing local work tonight!

We love the view from back here! This is the service entrance to our building at Lavaland Elementary School. This project features a 375 panel, 127.5 kW solar system that powers the school. We love the open views of the Sandias and our beautiful city!

We can’t believe it’s been 18 years! Today we are taking a walk down memory lane, back to one of our first school projects, Duranes ES. The unique outdoor gathering space is covered by this custom-designed shade structure!

Happy Friday! After a long week, we are all ready to go play just like these kiddos. Too bad we don’t have a custom rock wall like the one we designed for our building at Lavaland Elementary School!
Enjoy your weekend!

As we begin this new year, we wanted to take a second to reflect on our team’s amazing accomplishments in 2023!
1. We completed the Villa! The year ended with the completion of the Villa Agave, downtown’s newest housing community, designed and developed by our team.
2. Early College Opportunities or ‘ECO’ High School’s construction is nearing completion. Located in Santa Fe, this project will provide a new, state-of-the-art, learning center for high school students in the area.
3. North Valley Aquatics is fully under construction. This fun project will bring a new public pool, water slide, art and other exciting amenities to the North Valley area.
4. The NMHU Facilities building design is progressing nicely and construction is set to begin this year! (2024)
5. Another project on the NMHU campus, Sininger Hall, is currently under construction and is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
We are so proud of our team and are excited for what this year has in store. Happy New Year!

We are out for the holiday! Enjoy the long weekend, good food, friends and family. Cheers from our team!
Our swimming pool at North Valley Aquatics is shaping up nicely! It just needs a little water! Maybe some warmer temps as well. Check back after winter! This pool will be a lovely addition to the Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center and the north valley neighborhoods!

Villa Agave | The villas feature enclosed parking and these views! It’s a little messy as construction is just wrapping up but be on the lookout for images of the room types! There are many layouts to accommodate different family sizes as housing has become a huge need in our downtown area.

*NEW PROJECT ALERT* It might be Thursday, but we have a new project to share! The NMHU Facilities building is our fifth project on the New Mexico Highlands Campus in Las Vegas, NM. We love working in northern New Mexico! This project is special for us because it completes landscaping and site elements created in our first NMHU project, The McCaffrey Historic Trolley Building.

This project goes way back! Olo Yogurt Studio was completed in 2010, but the design continues to withstand the test of time! We are no strangers to color here at Baker A+D. This project sits at the intersection of our two favorite things: sweets and design! Dare we call it a "sweet design"?

The McCaffrey Historic Trolley Building named after beloved NMHU alumn, Joseph William McCaffrey Jr. This building would not have been possible without the generosity of this man. Joseph passed away last month but we know that his spirit of leadership continues to live on through this building.

to the Tiny Home Village! When we think of this project, the word that comes to mind is "community." The center piece of this project is focused entirely around the community of the village. Run and opporated by residents, the Village House creates a central space for residents to come together, cook, garden and socialize. The Village House also features facilities for meeting, laundry and lounge space among other ammenities. Residents plan a number of acctivities in the community focused around the Village House.

Happy Friday! Today we are taking you back to one of our older APS projects, Ernie Pyle Middle School. This 6th grade classroom building features an elevated floor that serves to create a unique and shaded outdoor space beneath the structure. The building needed to be placed in a specific area on the site, so was raised as to not block access between existing basketball courts and fields that are highly used. This design also provided the opportunity to create comfortable outdoor learning space using steps to create spaces where students can gather.

Our Lincoln Elementary School project won this year's 2022 Honor Award. 🤍 Lincoln ES is a two-story 55,000 sf sustainable facility located in Gallup, New Mexico for our amazing clients at Gallup-McKinley County Schools.
RK Stewart, FAIA, Jury Chair: "This design team was faced with many challenges and rose to meet them creating a design solution both elegant and functional as it is beautiful. Given a site divided by a drainage ditch that presented a safety risk to the students, the design turned the liability into an advantage. Containing the required drainage in conduits allowed the school to be elevated on piles at the rear of the site. That decision allowed them to incorporate an improved park to become part of the school’s playgrounds while easing access to the school for the adjacent streets for parents and buses. Locating some playground space in front of the school enables their use during non-school hours with neighborhood eyes on enhancing security. The entry plaza is easily identified, easily accessed, and welcoming to the community... What the jury found especially well done was the attention to detail. The diagrams describing the use of thermal displacement HVAC and integrating the system into the features of the classrooms enhanced the project’s story. The brise-soleil, cut from sheet metal, folded and power coated, became a signature of the façade, a sunscreen and playful element that I can imagine the students love. Its playfulness is undeniable. This school is a great addition to its community."

We haven't designed many manufacturing facilities, but we really enjoyed working with this amazing team behind the new Social Enterprise Center: The Partnership for Community Action and Southwest Creations Collaborative. Here's a few random behind- the-scenes shots from our photo shoot with Patrick Coulie.
