❄️💙“Let it Snow”❄️💙
*The Carter Shields Cabin showcases its charming beauty in the snow.
At the first hint of snow, I am out the door to Cades Cove. The Cove is so magical but especially in winter.
Anyone else ready for snow?
🤍🌼“Beauty in the Garden”🤍🌼
*This white cosmos shows off its beauty at the The State Botanical Garden of Georgia.
Even though I no longer live in Athens, Georgia, I have plenty of photographs I have yet to share. I can always visit again.
The Garden used to be my second home, but Cades Cove, Tennessee, is my fav. But I love them both!

🦅💔“As the Eagle Soars”🦅💔
*An eagle soars over Lake Junaluska, North Carolina, showcasing the clouds wrapped around the mountain.
The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene resulted in widespread destruction and loss of life. My heart aches as I think about the millions of people affected by this powerful storm, including the communities of Lake Junaluska and Maggie Valley.
The eagle's perspective has shifted as it glides above the area. Many businesses have been forced to permanently close due to their inability to afford the costs of rebuilding.
Lake Junaluska holds a special place in my heart—my family has been visiting there since I was a child. Every summer, we make a trip to this beautiful place, and this past July, we had the pleasure of introducing our son's fiancée to this wonderful location.
🍁🍂"The Beauty of Cades Cove”🍂🍁
The beauty of Cades Cove is amazing. I love visiting in any season, but my favorites are fall and spring. In the spring, plants and trees come to life, and we get to meet the new cute spring cubs! The fall is stunning to witness as the Cove undergoes a complete transformation.
I will be there tomorrow, but hopefully with my 87-year-old neighbor who has never been. I pray she will feel well enough to go—she will probably cry if she goes.

🌞🌅“Heaven Came Down”🌞🌅
I thought this image could bring some peace amidst the devastation and turmoil caused by Hurricane Helene in much of the South. Hopefully, it will...
While in Cades Cove, my mouth has often dropped because of what I see. The Cove is truly Heaven on earth, and this day, Heaven came down!
🥊🦌"He’s Mine—No He’s Mine"🥊🦌
In Cades Cove, I witnessed a young buck and two does playing in thick fog in an open field. One doe approached the buck, and he gave her attention. The second doe arrived, displaying aggressive behavior with pinned-back ears and a rigid body.
The second doe reared on her rear legs and started chasing the other deer. A scuffle ensued as they stood on their rear legs and used their claws to fight. After the spat was over, they jumped the fence across the road and went on to live happily ever after.
This Butterfly Release was requested by Chaztyx and memory of Penni, her mom. “We miss her and are sad she didn’t get to meet the boys.” Chaztyx misses her advice and working with her. Harper, her granddaughter, misses her and loves her.
This (Butterfly Release) was requested by Meg for her mom, Anne Donovan. She is missed. Meg misses her laughter and her advice. She wishes she could still talk to her. Meg wants her to look over Sherlock, Meg’s dog, because the doctors think he’s got cancer. Anne loved marigolds.
💚🐤He is a Looker!”🐤💚
This White House-chested Emerald hummingbird was checking me out in Trinidad.
Paul and I had a wonderful time on our cruise this past November into the beginning of December last year. We traveled to many countries, but we took this particular cruise to visit Trinidad because of the amazing hummingbirds there.
Paul and I went to Theodore and Gloria's home and spent the day photographing his hummingbirds.
If you want to see a broad range of hummingbirds at his home, you can go to Yerette…Home of the Hummingbird on Facebook. Or, you can plan a visit there. It will be worth it.
This (Butterfly Release) was requested by me for a sweet gal I met in Nashville named Whisper. It is in memory of Jessica Harrison, a beautiful mother of six, an amazing friend, and loving human. Hopefully, your soul found some peace.
💨🐻 “Run Like the Wind”🐻💨
If you have been following my page for a while, you know I love photographing the horses in Cades Cove, Tennessee.
The horses get off from a hard day's work on the trail and then run like the wind, free and unrestrained. At the end of the last field awaits their other friends.
🐛🦋Good morning. Farmer Glenn here.🐛🦋
My Gulf Fritillary caterpillars have been abundant this year. The only negative aspect is that the butterflies return and lay eggs on my passion vine. The female butterfly lays eggs on the passion vine, and then the caterpillars eat it.
I ran out of passion vine for a second time. The first time, I went to my and my neighbor's lot and gathered food for them.
On my last trip, I took 56 caterpillars and 12 eggs. I cannot sustain that many caterpillars. I will miss having them in my backyard. We also collected more food for them and new vines that I planted.
The good news is I have about 15 chrysalises and 8 to 10 more caterpillars.
🐻💚“On the Lookout!”🐻💚
While a sow was munching on her veggies, her cub was on the lookout for danger in Cades Cove, Tennessee.
It is a thrill when I photograph a baby black bear on its mother’s back. The shots don’t come often. Maybe once in a blue moon.
🦉💚“Peace”🦉💚
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27, NIV).
Have a blessed Labor Day weekend!🙏
This Butterfly Release is in memory of Gerald Turney. He was a caring and kind man, loved and followed Jesus, loving husband and best friend, and loved his children, grandchildren, family and friends with all of his heart . He is missed and loved everyday. Until we see him again...
❤️🦢"Lining Up”🦢❤️
* A mute swan glides through colorful reflections. *
I love photographing the wildlife at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. My favorites subjects there are the mute swans and bald eagles. Through the years, many more swans have been purchased, making it easier to find one to photograph.
I envisioned the shot I wanted to take when I saw this swan nearing a colorful reflection, which made the shot more interesting. His white reflection is beginning to line up with the other.🦢
🐻🍒“When I’m Big Enough . . .”🐻🍒
A spring bear cub dreams of getting the tallest cherries in the tree in Cades Cove when he’s big enough.
Photographing the bears in the cherry trees is a beautiful experience. The abundance of cherry trees along Loop Road often lures the bears into open display.
This mom of the four cubs has done a fantastic job teaching them where various food sources are in Cades Cove. However, she is very loose in keeping the youngsters with her. She has left the cubs by themselves several times for long periods. I named the runt Angel and his brother Gabriel. Why I arrived with their names and story will come another day.
This Butterfly Release is for a high school friend, Kim, and is in memory of her husband, Jim Poole: husband, father, son, G-daddy, and friend. You made everyone around you better.
“Those we love, don’t go away they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear. “
🍁🌳“Utsasquidi”🍁🌳
I wanted to give this tree in Cades Cove, Tennessee a name because whenever I tell someone about it and where it is, it is difficult. So, I gave it the name, Utsasquidi which in Cherokee means bent. Since I can't pronounce that, I will call it the UT tree.
I love Utsasquidi with its crooked arm that hangs near the ground. I changed the name to more represent its heritage. This photo was taken on October 17, 2023.
🦉💚“Whoo’s There?”🦉💚
I had the privilege of photographing a Great Horned Owl back in 2020. It was a delight photographing a momma with her owlet.
If you are new to my page, welcome.🐻🦋
I started the Butterfly Club with the kids in my neighborhood a few years back. I raise the caterpillars and then let the kids release the butterflies. Sometimes, the kids come to my backyard and view the chrysalises and caterpillars.
I had a mom bring back her two kids back from the pool so she could come to the release today. Here are three videos from the Butterfly Club’s releases we did today and Monday.🦋💙
The kids come up with unique names for the butterflies. I guess they're history buffs.🙃
🦋❤️“Surrounded by Color”🦋❤️
Our family loves visiting Callaway Resort & Gardens. I loved following this Pipevine Swallowtail and capturing a photo of it surrounded in color.
I love driving through Cades Cove, Tennessee, especially seeing black bears. It was raining Tuesday, and it was a joy to see a mom and her spring cub following behind.

Here is a snipet I wrote on my website about myself: “ Jesus is behind all I do as a photographer. I feel the Lord reveals Himself to me through His nature and feel this is a gift that allows me to see the raw beauty of creation through His eyes. He even allowed me to photograph two miracles at once! To view this amazing photograph, go to my "About Judy" page.
My favorite subject to photograph is bears, but I also love to photograph all wildlife, flowers, and birds—especially hummingbirds:) I also created the Hummingbird Trail at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, I teach a class about hummingbirds and the trail, and I also lead Hummingbird Trail walks:)”
