As a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, English Instructor Anne Clark entered a drawing to win books for her students and was chosen as one of the NCTE Poetry Month Giveaways. Clark will receive 100 copies of the book “Call Us What We Carry” by Amanda Gorman to give to students. Amanda Gorman is the first National Youth Poet Laureate of the United States and the youngest poet to read an original poem at an Inauguration.

On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, the Ethics class toured the Pope/Douglas Incinerator to start their unit on Environmental Ethics and to celebrate Earth Day, which is next week.
Christine Hollerman teamed up with the Echo Press newspaper and Fire Pit Lake Area Theatre to discuss journalism ethics and the death of facts with her Ethics class.
The theater donated 30 free tickets to Christine's students to see their dramatic and comedic performance of The Lifespan of a Fact, a journalism dilemma. Shows are open to the public on April 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7 at 7:00 p.m. for $15 at the door.

Alexandria College earns $1.1 million to develop Global Military Learning Network The announcement of federal funding for Alexandria College and five other projects at colleges of Minnesota State totaling $7.7 million was made on March 14 by Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith.
Yesterday, March 17, Christine Hollermann took the Intro to World Religions class on a field trip to the Hindu Temple in Maple Grove, MN. They received a private guided tour by a Hindu member. Then Hollermann took the group to lunch for an authentic Indian meal at Tandoor in Maple Grove.

Alexandria College Biology class learns about fossilized remains at Runestone Museum Students from Alexandria Technical and Community College handled bison and mastodon bones from thousands of years ago discovered in Douglas County.
