A small detail of my newest work. It is extremely labor intensive. I will post as the work progresses. It is sculpture on canvas. As art becomes more flat and digital, I am committed to pushing printmaking into the most tactile results possible. There are always new challenges.

This wood engraving was called, Jerry Max. I was so sorry to hear the subject Jerry, had died. He was brilliant, crazy and sad.

This small work is an experiment before creating a larger more complex version. I would welcome your comments. It has tons of texture. Although, it is abstract, it is based on my study of lichens.

I have a small version of my wood engraving Nkonde in my studio and on my website. It is probably my best known work from my past.

Concerned Cat, from the book I illustrated called, Beauty and the Serpent, published by Simon & Schuster. The author was the wonderful Barbara Porte. It was a lovely project.

Every now and then I do take a few hours off! Today had a rare lunch at Barca’s on the waterfront, with my good friend Greg. Alexandria is the best!!

I met this young lady in my studio yesterday. She asked me when I started being an artist. She is going into 6th grade and loves making art. Her grandmother brought her to the Factory and took this photo. I am making a short film with my mentor Barry Moser. As artists we pass it on, a line forms between generations. It is so important. I hope her visit to the factory was inspiring. I enjoyed her lovely energy.

With my dear friend and mentor artist Barry Moser in Massachusetts. We met when I was fourteen and we just filmed a short conversation for an upcoming pop up exhibition at Georgetown University Library this fall.

Called, Disconnect, this is a painful subject and I don’t show this piece often. I have one in my studio at the moment. I keep planning to do more narrative work, starting now!

These three lovely young ladies asked me if they could draw Lizzie in my studio today. I think the drawings and text are so good! Sometimes the Torpedo Factory is a magical place. I wish I could show the girl’s sweet faces- but it is the nature of today’s world that it is not a good idea.

I keep being asked if the insects in this new piece are real! They are not, they are drawn, printed and layered using recycled plastic and thin Japanese and Nepalese paper. The actual insects that inspired this were shared by a young entomologist I worked with several years ago. I am grateful to the scientists who have helped me understand their passion and given freely of their time.

I have a few of these hand printed wood engravings left. This is a very small edition and most went to limited letterpress edition of Poe’s , Tell Tale Heart.

Another very small edition of hand printed engravings. Only three available at the moment. These are made with very thin layers of rice paper and chin colle’ on Nepalese hand made sheets.

Series of prints inspired by a man I knew. I wanted to explore his personality changing from bravado to depression over one hour. Recently I sold almost the last of this grouping.

Easter Bunny Hop event at the Torpedo Factory. Meeting new people and working on a collaboration, with kids, in Alexandria and . We had real bunnies in the building up for adoption and and event filled with activities.

These bird/flowers are rising out of a broken forest. The first person who saw this, said the abstracted birds looked like flowers. I was surprised but decided to go with it! What do you think? It is 50x 40 inches. Morton Fine Art LLC
