Ernest Haucke American Legion Post 236
Veterans Organization
During this highly charged political season, please remember that The American Legion does not support any candidate for political office.
When we are wearing the Cap or other Legion apparel we must refrain from participating in activities that could be interpreted as supporting one candidate or another. Though we should support the political process, let’s be careful to not appear to support any political candidate.
This stance is vital to furthering our agenda to care for the needs of our fellow veterans, those currently serving in our military, and their families.

There is a email scam that uses the VA logo and talks about Veterans Grants. This is not legitimate, and how we know is the email is a usa.com email. The VA only uses va.gov emails. Whenever you are unsure about an email, always look at the email it is coming from (not the name, but the actual email).
VA extends presumptions of service-connection for three new cancer types Today, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is including three new cancer types in the list of presumed service-connected disabilities due to military environmental exposure under the PACT Act.

In 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis A. Johnson announced the creation of a unified Armed Forces Day to honor Americans serving in the US military branches. It was intended to replace the separate holidays for each military sector, but those days are still celebrated, especially by those in the designated branches. Armed Forces Day is the 3rd Saturday in May each year.

"Every day, police officers pin on their shields and walk out the door, rushing into harm’s way to keep the rest of us safe. Being a police officer is more than what they do it is who they are. On Peace Officers Memorial Day and during Police Week, we recognize the incredible courage of our Nation’s police officers and honor the fallen heroes, whose ultimate sacrifice we can never repay." -from The White House Proclamation on Peace Officers Memorial Day & Police Officer Week.
We recently purchased 20 American flags for the streets of Algoma, one of the many ways our veterans continue to serve our community. Below is Algoma Mayor Steve Lautenbach (left) and Algoma Post 236 Commander Mike Froelich (right). 🇺🇸
