The Unique Appeal of Single-Origin Coffees

Single-origin coffees are a celebration of terroir, offering a pure and unblended taste of the region where they are grown. Unlike coffee blends, which combine beans from multiple sources to create a balanced flavor profile, single-origin coffees highlight the distinct characteristics of a specific location. Each cup tells a story of its origin, reflecting unique environmental factors such as soil, altitude, and climate, along with the dedicated craftsmanship of local farmers.

The appeal of single-origin coffees lies in their ability to provide a unique sensory experience. Coffee enthusiasts appreciate the opportunity to explore a diverse range of flavors, from the bright and fruity notes of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe to the rich and chocolatey undertones of Colombian Huila. This exploration not only deepens their appreciation for the complexities of coffee but also connects them to the places and people behind their favorite brews.

For those seeking authenticity and a deeper connection to their coffee, single-origin offerings present an unparalleled journey of taste and discovery. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or a curious newcomer, single-origin coffees invite you to savor the world, one region at a time.

For a limited time, enjoy 15% Off all single-origin coffees

Origin: Huila, Colombia
Process: Washed Process
Tasting Notes: Cherry, Tangerine, Tropical
Roast: Light

In the heart of Colombia’s southwestern region lies La Esperanza, a 3-hectare farm owned by the dedicated Carlos Cerquera. Here, meticulous attention to detail followed by a rigorous approach defines the process. Harvesting is an art, with cherries selected only when they reach the precise 22° brix (brix - a measure of the dissolved solids in a liquid). After careful sorting, the coffee undergoes a 40-hour fermentation in a hopper, followed by another 40 hours in a tank to remove mucilage. The coffee then undergoes a 14-day drying journey in a greenhouse, rotated every two hours for consistent moisture release.

Our aim in roasting this well-cared-for coffee is to strike a delicate balance between its complex acidity, and fruity notes while bringing forth its inherent sweetness.

Origin: Keffa, Ethiopia

Tasting Notes: Raspberry, Cherry, Plum

See our Coffee Brew Guides for more information about brewing coffee at home.

Takara Bio:

Takara’s journey began in Adelaide, Australia, where she discovered her passion for music at a young age. At just ten years old, she started recording covers on GarageBand as a hobby. By 13, she was crafting beats in her bedroom and soon formed a rap group with other local talents.

In 2017, feeling a lack of representation in the Australian music scene, Takara took a bold leap of faith and relocated to Chicago. By 2020, now based in LA, Takara had cultivated a devoted following, achieving #1 on Australia’s Triple J Unearthed with her track “Take Me Home.” The following year, her singles, including the hit “Off My Mind” featuring an international collaboration, garnered significant attention, propelling her to #3 on Triple J Unearthed.

In 2022, Takara’s fan base expanded exponentially with the release of her viral sensation “Strawberry Cake.” As an independent artist, she has achieved remarkable success, accumulating over 100 million views on Instagram alone () and amassing more than 400,000 followers across various platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Spotify) since dropping her debut album ‘Kinda Messy’ in July 2022.

Dogstar Bio:

Here in 2023, Dogstar epitomizes the quintessential Southern California storytelling rock band they’ve always been in their hearts, making deeply resonant music that literally comes from Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees – the name of their new album which arrived October 6, 2023 via their own label Dillon Street Records. Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Bret Domrose, drummer Robert Mailhouse and bassist Keanu Reeves, Dogstar was born in 1991 as a band of friends who came together in a garage in Southern California and simply dreamed of playing music together and making a little noise. Now, all these years later, Domrose, Mailhouse and Reeves took some time at the tail end of a historic lockdown to create this collection of songs that fully encompasses who they are as artists today. The happily reunited rock trio’s official return came in May 2023 – more than 20 years since their last performance together – with their first public performance at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival with a set that sparked fan and critical praise alike, including the live debut of their lead single “Everything Turns Around,” which was officially released July 19. Dogstar embarked on their sold-out 25+ city Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees Tour and heads to Europe for more touring in 2024.
