We have 2 crews here this week, one for concrete and another putting the ceiling in. All looking sharp!

Saturday July 20

Another week of concrete....

This area in the cow barn will have footbaths for the cows and is also the charging and dumping station for the robotic manure collectors. Just think of a giant Rhumba that goes around gathering manure, brings it here, empties and recharges to do it all over again! More on them later.

Just more concrete done this week. It is a big project but it is so exciting to see it come together!

Congratulations to Don and Barb Craig, a wonderful couple we have been blessed to know for many years. It is always a fun time to be around them, even if you're just milking cows!

This week's update: Concrete!
The process of pouring concrete has begun. Many more loads to follow!

The sides of the barn will be open, but curtains will be installed so they can be lowered in cold weather.

Here are some progress pictures of the Dairy Barn. The barn is a freestyle barn where the cows can move around freely to eat, drink water, get milked, and lay down. There will be two robotic milkers installed as well. More on that coming up!

Here is the result of yesterday's work! The siding on the ends, trim work and framing for the doors comes next.

We're excited to share the Dairy barn rebuild progress! Trusses and roof are being installed today, but there's still lots of work to be done before the cows return.

These inquisitive heifers stopped and perked up their ears as soon as Eva started strumming her guitar! She had their attention the whole time she played.

Keeping it fun at the Craig Farm!

These two birthday buddies came in together to get milked recently. We have noticed many different social characteristics with the cows. Some are timid, some are bullies, and we often see grouping together of others of similar age. The cows who were 4-H projects or were doted on as calves are the friendliest!

A lot of the "girls" have discovered the cow brush and will stand there and let it pamper them. The brush is activated when they come up against it and continues to turn until they walk away. Some stay and let it go over their whole body!
