In business, in sports, and in family, Wawro's Bar and Grill has been a part in those traditional Aliquippa virtues and a fixture at 395 Franklin Ave. For many years, Wawro's was the busiest restaurant and the hub of activity on Franklin Avenue, as Walter, Mary, and the family devoted themselves to offering fine food and drink at a fair price. Always a good businessman, Walter's attention to every detail of his business was legendary. Nothing was served that did not pass his taste test. He was especially proud of his fish dinners of which he said, "Our fish is the best around. Most of all, though, Wawro's was known for the grand hospitality of its owners and the fun atmosphere created by its patrons. There are many still alive in Aliquippa who recall the traditional New Year's parties, complete with roasted pigs and every other food imaginable, that Walter and Mary annually hosted for their many loyal customers, customers whom they welcomed and treated as family. In all his years at 395 Franklin Avenue, Walter never lost his passion for his patrons or his business. He and Mary will always stay alive in the memories of their family, friends, and customers for all the wonderful experiences that were shared with them down here on Franklin Avenue. Since Walter's passing, a new chapter has been added to the story of Wawro's and Aliquippa. The story's themes are the same: business, family and sports. Only the characters have changed. As you can plainly see, Mary Kathryn, daughter Danielle, and many fine friends spent 18 months moving the bar to the front of the building, remodeling the old restaurant, and renovating the kitchen, so that Wawro's is once again a traditional restaurant and bar, just as it was back in Walter's heyday. The new logo proclaims, "An Aliquippa Tradition". Like Aliquippa, Wawro's tradition has been maintained for over fifty years on three things: family, sports, and business. At Wawro's Bar and Grill, we are pleased to serve the Aliquippa community by offering great food and drinks at a reasonable price. We are grateful for the many loyal customers who have come to our establishment for so many years. We look forward to meeting and serving new patrons drawn to our newly updated and renovated facilities. We anticipate expanding the business even more as time goes on. Most of all, we want to be active participants in the rebirth of Franklin Avenue and the community of Aliquippa.
