Fantastic news for black rhinos and conservation efforts in Kenya! hadn't had black rhinos for over 50 years, since poaching and trophy hunting drastically reduced their numbers. Thanks to successful conservation efforts, Kenya's black rhino population has grown significantly!

The reintroduction of these 21 black rhinos to Loisaba (from and ) of a larger plan to create new breeding populations and expand the overall rhino range in Kenya. This will not only help the rhinos recover but will also benefit the surrounding ecosystem.

The teams from executed the operation with amazing expertise and dedication! Kenya's dedication to conservation shines a light of hope for the future of these magnificent creatures. The return of black rhinos to Loisaba Conservancy is a testament to this effort, offering a chance for their populations to rebound and thrive once more.

Meet Prossy, one of the best and professional female guides I met on my Uganda Chimpanzee habituation trek in National Park. While on my treks with her, I noted her skills, knowledge and leadership were excellent. I also noted that she lacked a good pair of binoculars that she could use as her own without having to borrow it from either other guests when she tried to look for birds in between our treks through the forest on what was a very wet day. I offered to send her a pair that would be her own so she could continue her bird spotting outside of her regular work or during her off days, and take her bird watching skills and knowledge to the next level. Thanks to , a recent traveler took the pair for Prossy and David, my guide surprised her with it when he delivered it to the park HQ . What a blessing and an opportunity to help support , and guides in Africa as well as paying it forward so can all as human beings continue to do better.

National Park - Time spent in South on my , I also stayed at Akagera Game Lodge, a recently refurbished resort safari lodge that provides excellent quality and experience. With its relatively close distance to Kigali - 3.5 hours if you don't get ticketed or pulled over for going fast, makes it a worth it visit. That part of Akagera tends to have good population of ungulates, cats as well as zebra, rhino and hippo. AfricanMecca Safaris is going to be adding this lodge to its list of offerings.
