The Fed Minutes released this week show that the majority of the Fed Officials think a September rate cut is necessary. It also shows that some were thinking it was necessary in July.

The question is: how much will the Fed cut rates by? Or will there be multiple rate cuts before the end of the year?

I don't see more than a .25% rate cut in September but I do think there is a good chance for a second rate cut before the end of the year if inflation and job data continue to support the case for it.

More good news this week as inflation data revealed a further slowdown which helps our chances for a rate cute next month.

Rates are better this week by a few basis points but that looks to continue as long as the data supports a continued trend of downward inflation and weaker job growth.

With unemployment data sending the markets into a panic, experts are now calling for a 150 basis point reduction in interest rates before the year is over.

However, it is not like the Fed to make any quick decisions or be pressured into something that they don't have all the data on yet.

Should we get favorable inflation data next week, I think we should get a 25 basis point cut in September, and possibly another 25 basis point cut before the end of the year.

Interest rates got considerably better this week thanks to some remarks by the FOMC. The probability of a rate cute in September is now 100% according to the consensus.

However, we do have five data sets involving inflation being released between now and then. As long as they continue to meet expectations, we will have a rate cut come September.

If not, it could be a longer wait....

The momentum continues to build for an interest rate cut in September.

PCE data was released this morning and was in line with expectations, bringing inflation down to 2.5% year over year in June.

Fed Chair Jerome Powell is scheduled to speak next week which could give us an indication on whether we can start to anticipate the rate cut or if we will have to wait longer.

Woohoo! We finally get some good data to support a rate cut this year. CPI data shows that inflation slowed by 0.1% to 3% in June which is the lowest it has been in 3 YEARS!!!

As a result, rates got significantly better today which should hold through the weekend.

We finally see inflation ease a bit this week according to both CPI & PPI data. If this trend continues, the Fed will have no choice but to cut rates at least once this year.

Rates jumped up this week thanks to unexpected inflation data from the CPI metric. This means we are likely not going to see a rate cut in June as we originally thought.
