When the road is closed down due to an accident, it is not ok to make your own path, go around stopped vehicles or drive through the grass. The traffic is stopped for the safety of everyone on the scene and you should stop and wait for traffic to be restarted, not become part of the problem or put personnel at risk. OUR STORY

We would like to introduce you to our fire department organization, the Fire Department Rehab Unit (FDRU) of Stark County. We are a volunteer, non-profit, 501 C-3 fire company comprised of a group of retired and current firefighters dedicated to providing fire ground support services to all of Stark County and the surrounding communities fire departments.

The Stark FDRU provides mobile rehab stations for re-hydration, core temperature stabilization, restrooms, and shelter from inclement elements. We operate specially-equipped air conditioned and heated vehicles, capable of supplying up to 200 personnel. Equipment on board includes, specialized rehab equipment, medical monitoring equipment, CPR and AED equipment, power generation, light towers for scene lighting, SCBA mobile air truck, heated and air conditioned seating, area heaters (cold weather operations), enclosed shelters, misting unit fans (hot weather), cooling vests, iced towels, heated blankets, video and digital camera equipment, thermal imager, Inflatable heated decon/shelter tent.

We also provide services such as SCBA air, SCUBA air mobile fill stations, Decontamination Equipment and Showers, Search and Rescue services including SAR K-9s, Drones, and thermal imaging Equipment.

For very large incidents, we deploy multiple units and setup zoned rehab sectors anywhere around a large incident. We also provide chilled water, Electrolyte replacement fluids, coffee, hot chocolate and nutritional foods, snacks hot soups and meals. We also carry ice, towels, spare fire gloves, hoods, socks, hand warmers and warm blankets and much much more.

For long-term incidents, we can handle meals for all personnel as well. FDRU is not in a position to purchase meals, but we do have the capability to acquire, heat and serve and more solid foods for personnel during extended incidents.
We serve all Fire Department Personnel in Stark County and surrounding areas and upon request, Police, FBI, ATF, EMA & DEA
We are available for major incidents – Fires, Hazardous Material spills, Bomb/Ordnance responses as well as long-term operations, such as extended investigations & SWAT operations, on-call, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 52 weeks/year thru your departments dispatch center.

The FDRU has units in the Alliance and North Lawrence area's that will respond to any incident we are requested on. We are dispatched by Alliance Fire Dispatch at 330-821-1212 by IC request or by box alarms. We may also be dispatched by pre determined SOP’s set up by each department through your dispatch centers mutual aid call list. We offer quicker response times and automatic responses on all working fires as well as other major incidents should you choose to add us to your mutual aid list. Quick response is a crucial part of fire rehab when dealing with extremely hot or cold temperatures, rapid dehydration from fire suppression, as well as the other weather and fire scene elements. These types of things can really take a toll on your fire personnel and put their health at risk in a short period of time. The FDRU is available 24/7 365 days a year for use by all participating departments, law enforcement agencies and special response teams. Our units Rehab 1, Rehab 2, Rehab 3, Rehab 4 (off road) and Rescue 7 will also be available for training exercises where physical excursion warrants the use of our services for your firefighter’s safety and well being.

FDRU is always seeking donations to cover the costs of our trucks and equipment as well as our operating expenses. We operate solely on fundraisers and donations to provide this service and we are asking for your support in the way of a donation to assist in maintaining our vehicles, equipment, and supplies.
