Join us for an End of Summer Reading Party, on Friday, Aug. 16, from 7:30-10pm in the Altadena Main Library parking lot.
Bring your family, friends, and chairs for an outdoor viewing of Toy Story. We will have free popcorn and snacks (while supplies last), a fun photo booth, and a toy swap!
The toy swap will run from 7:30-8 p.m. Please bring a gently used and cleaned toy that you are willing to part with, and you’ll receive a ticket to claim another toy. The number of toys available will depend on donations. Unclaimed toys will be donated locally after the event.

Though the Altadena Main Library will be closed on Friday, Aug. 9, for necessary maintenance, you can still beat the heat this weekend at one of the Pasadena libraries or a local cooling center like the Jackie Robinson Community Center. Join Our Board of Trustees and Help Serve the Community! This November, we have three open seats — representing Districts 1, 2, and 5 — on the Altadena Library District Board of Trustees. The last day for candidates to file nomination documents and submit candidate statements is TOMORROW, FRIDAY, AUGUST 9, 2024, at 5 p.m.!
All three seats will be four-year terms. If you: live in one of these areas, are at least 18 years old, and are registered to vote, you are eligible to run ... and the time is now!

Stop by the Huntington Health bloodmobile this Friday (8/9) & Saturday (8/10) from 9am-3:15pm in the Altadena Main Library parking lot and help save lives! All blood donors receive a $10 gift card. Please call or text Ida at 626-676-3035 to schedule your donation. We welcome walk-ins!

Relive your favorite memories by making your own scrapbook on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 4-5pm at the Main Library! You will decorate your pages with fun photos, paper, stickers, and more. We recommend you bring at least 5-10 printed photos, no bigger than 4x6in. For ages 6-12.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Daniel Lewis, senior curator at The Huntington Library, for an author talk on Saturday, July 27, from 2-3:30pm in the Main Library Community Room! His new book “Twelve Trees: The Deep Roots of our Future” explores our relationship with trees and our planet.
Daniel Lewis is an environmental historian and college professor, with faculty appointments at Caltech and at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

We have this amazing opportunity to get a behind the scenes tour of the bookstore by the owner Nikki High and each teen who registers will get to take home a book! Octavia’s Bookshelf is dedicated to uplifting BIPOC writers, creating space for community, and passionately encouraging a love for books while celebrating and honoring the words and wisdom of Pasadena hometown legend, Octavia Butler.
Learn how to upcycle an old t-shirt 👕👕👕 into a tote bag this Friday, July 19 at 12:30pm in the Altadena Main Library Community Room! You will learn a simple no-sew technique and then decorate your stylish new bag! You are encouraged to bring your own t-shirt, but the library will have a limited supply for those who need one. 😄
