AMBUCS Altoona’s very own Jim and Phil ran in this year’s Patterno Family Beaver Stasium Run to benefit the Special Olympics of PA!
We’re happy to report both finished with flying colors!
It’s Tryke giveaway time!
Stay tuned!
Look what 4 year old Graham got in the mail!
AMBUCS Altoona is so excited we were able to take his name off the national Amtryke wishlist and send him a custom tryke in Ohio! Just in time for warmer weather! His smile says it all!
ICYMI!
We were honored to have Sue Patterno and Paul Fenary as guests at our lunch meeting yesterday!
Sue and Paul spoke a little about the Beaver Stadium Run to support the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania. And they sold tickets for a chance to win 4 tickets to a Penn State football game in the Paterno family box! Proceeds benefit the run.
They made it a deal we couldn’t refuse! Sue brought her famous chocolate chip cookies for anyone who bought a ticket from her and Paul took Sue’s picture with anyone who bought a ticket from him! We’re not sure who won that competition!

❓ What is The Penguin Project?
Once a year, a magical and touching celebration of the human spirit unfolds at numerous theatres across the country. A group of children in a program called The Penguin Project take to the stage to perform a modified version of a well-known Broadway musical. This production is unique, however, because all of the roles are filled by children with disabilities.
🐧 Participants - Young Artists with Disabilities
The Penguin Project is open to any individual age 8 to 21 with developmental disabilities including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, visual and hearing and other neurological disorders.
💜 Peer Mentors
The Penguin Project utilizes a “peer mentor” system, linking each young artist with children the same age without disabilities who have volunteered to work side-by-side with them through rehearsals and through the final performance.

For the month of February, AMBUCS Altoona collected cans of soup and boxes of cereal for the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Food Pantry.
As part of our 100 Good Deeds, we set a goal to collect 100 of each. We are excited that we surpassed that goal! We donated 160 boxes of cereal and 165 cans of soup!
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is still in need food for their food pantry! Please consider donating to them!
