It was specifically designed with our older kids in mind...the first of its kind on our campus! It is now lovingly known as the Christy Cottage. Myla and Myra, as well as the rest of our kids at HPCH, are excited for the new school year! New school supplies, new clothes, making new friends and meeting their new teachers are always some of the highlights for our children this time of year! Lots of new! Thank you for loving our kids and always keeping them in your prayers! ๐๐โค
Journey (pink shirt) and Jealousy (blue shirt) enjoy some hot chocolate and cookies with their friends on the deck of the dining hall at Camp Blue Haven! Our children had such an incredible summer making lifelong memories and ultimately...they were encouraged in their faith. Tomorrow, all of our sweet kiddos will head back to school. We humbly ask that you keep our children in your prayers this week as they return to their studies and begin a new chapter in their lives. We are so excited to see what this new school year will bring! โ๐๐ฅฐ

๐ช*THROWBACK THURSDAY* Does anyone recognize this popular HPCH campus landmark that opened back in 1980? In this 44-year-old photo, the finishing touches are being made to the road and parking lot outside. If you guessed the Mayer Gym, you are CORRECT! What a great blessing this building has been to our campus throughout the years! ๐๐๐
Our children returned this past weekend from another incredible trip to Camp Blue Haven! So many special memories were made, and our kids are already talking about how excited they are to go back next year! Journey had so much fun on the ropes course while she was there! She even mastered the art of balancing...on stacks of milk crates! ๐ฅฐ
Lane is such a hard worker around the Axe Cottage! He especially likes to help with meal prep and has become a master at making juice, Kool-Aid, lemonade and iced tea! If you ever get thirsty while visiting the HPCH campus, we know someone who can solve that problem! ๐ง๐ฅค๐
To say that Myla gets excited when she gets to eat at Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers might be an understatement! Her toughest decision is what to eat first...the fries, the burger or the custard! Judging by the photo, I think we know what her favorite might be! ๐๐๐ฆ๐

*THROWBACK THURSDAY* Back in October of 2014, the Home was honored to host the Wednesday Ladies Bible Class from the Mary Ellen & Harvester congregation in Pampa, Texas. The ladies experienced a wonderful outing including a complete tour of the HPCH campus coupled with a delicious lunch served at the Blanton Place for Encouragement. Just before their departure, more fun was had when the ladies discovered the Homeโs electric โgolf cartโ donated by a generous supporting family in Oklahoma. Thanks again, ladies, for loving our kids! ๐๐ฅฐ

(14 Years - 3 Months - 21 Days) That's the amount of time that Roy and Karen Davis have been a blessing at High Plains Children's Home! Countless lives have been changed for the better because of Roy and Karen's presence at HPCH. The eternal difference they have made is hard to fathom. They have been such a light on our campus and have always been a constant source of love and encouragement. Today, we honor and celebrate Roy and Karen and their many years of service to all of our sweet kiddos! Today is also their last day with us and although we will miss them terribly, we are so excited to see where the "retired" life takes them! Roy and Karen, we love you...and we thank you...for everything! ๐ฅฐ๐๐

Peace, Love and Tie-Dye! Myra gets ready to add drops of different colors to her white shirt in hopes of the ultimate tie-dyed masterpiece! She, along with the rest of the Williams Cottage girls, had so much fun learning how to tie-dye their shirts! If you ever get a hankering to add a splash of color to your wardrobe...we know just the crew for the job...and yes, they do accept ice cream as a form of payment! ๐โฎ๐ฆ
Happy Friday! The Williams Cottage girls had so much fun visiting the Oklahoma City Zoo! Their favorite part was seeing the lions! They also enjoyed learning about elephants and couldn't believe how big they actually are! ๐ฆ๐

*THROWBACK THURSDAY* Did you know, back in 2014, the Harding University men's basketball team made a special appearance on the HPCH campus and spent some quality time with our kids in the Mayer Gym?! Our children were in complete awe of these talented young men and had so much fun hoopin' it up with one of the best collegiate teams around! ๐๐
Our sweet kiddos in Axe Cottage continue to refine the art of keeping cool in the summer heat! Front porch swingin' + watermelon eatin' = ๐ Is there such a thing as too much watermelon?! ๐
Who says you can't taste-test the batter of your own birthday cake?! After some experimental research and a careful examination of all the chocolaty goodness, Jolise gives it two thumbs up and a smile of approval! ๐ฅฐ
Myla showcases her red, white and blue masterpiece that she worked really hard on for the 4th of July! Myla won second place in the Laird Farmers Insurance Agency's coloring contest and was even awarded a $25 gift card! ๐
The young ladies of Williams Cottage have decided that roller skating is the only acceptable mode of transportation around the HPCH campus! Anybody need lessons?! Happy weekend, everyone! ๐ฅฐ

The Williams Cottage girls wave hello from Palo Duro Canyon! They always have so much fun exploring and hiking the numerous trails and features of the park! Did you know that Palo Duro Canyon is our nation's second-largest canyon after the Grand Canyon in Arizona?! They can't wait to go back! ๐

This road would later become the famous Thelma Lou Lane, named after the late Thelma Ingram, who was HPCH's original administrative secretary, bookkeeper, chief cook and bottle washer! ๐

The goat ate my homework! Hallie absolutely loves working with the HPCH goats as long as they aren't too hungry! She's so good with them and it always puts a smile on her face! The opportunity for our children to spend time with these animals is such a blessing and is therapeutic on many different levels!
Yasmani explores the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. store before a delicious seafood feast while visiting the Kemah Boardwalk on the Gulf of Mexico with the Owen Cottage! Watch out Forrest...there's a new world champion ping pong star on the rise! ๐
