HPV is very common in the United States — eight out of 10 people will have HPV at some point in their lives. Most HPV infections go away on their own, but some last longer — and can cause cancer or other health problems. The HPV vaccine is very effective at preventing cancer and many other health problems caused by the virus. Doctors recommend boys and girls get the HPV vaccine between ages 9 and 12, when it requires only two shots. Those ages 15-26 need to receive three doses of the vaccine. Call 903-596-DOCS to schedule your child’s HPV vaccine today!

When Dayton “Junior” Pierce stopped by the UT Health Carthage emergency department to thank his care team, he was able to give them a wave goodbye when he left. That small gesture is something his care team celebrated, especially since when they first met Pierce he was missing his fingers, the result of a woodworking accident in his garage at his Lake Murvaul home. “To know that our team played a part in his successful treatment and recovery is just a blessing,” ER Director Shelbea Comer said.
