This July, support a Wreaths Across America Sponsorship Group through our campaign!
This annual campaign spotlights the work of likeminded organizations, and encourages year-round support of the mission. By sponsoring a $17 wreath through a Sponsorship Group this summer, you can help a local group reach their goals, while honoring a fallen veteran. $5 from every wreath sponsorship is returned to the group you select!
Throughout July, we will be highlighting Sponsorship Groups by sharing their stories and their individual missions. In the meantime, learn more about , and find a group to support:

The best Department Riders in the nation took up a free will donation and a group rode to Greenfield with $335 towards the relief effort.
Proud to be a Legion Rider today.
Larry Ritland left Carrol at 6am this morning and rode 99 miles to Ames to memorialize the 2 sailors from Iowa and the 99 lives lost on the USS Scorpion in 1968. Amazing story and we were proud to es**rt him and his team into town.

The 6th District Legacy Run to benefit the Veteran's and Children's Foundation is scheduled. This year our mission has changed. If you'd like to help, you can meet us at one of these post locations or reach out to us in the ALR and we will arrange to pick it up. The VCF provides temporary emergency financial assistance to veterans and their families in times of need and provides funding to train our VSO's. This year every dollar counts.
Attention runners! The American Legion of Iowa has an event coming up.

On behalf of the WAA committee we can’t say thank you enough to the volunteers that came out today for WAA wreath pickup. In about an hour we had it all done and taken away .
And a big thank you to the City of Ames and the crew at resource recovery for all their help in making Wreath Day 2023 such a success.

The Commission of Veterans Affairs provides assistance with emergency basic needs to Story County veterans and/or their family members, who were discharged under Honorable Conditions. Veterans need to have served 90 consecutive days of active Federal service, not counting training. Story County Veterans Assistance Programs are funded by Story County.

Amazing support for the entire program and all the volunteers to Remember (our fallen), Honor (those serving), and Teach (our children)!
Thank you to all who were able to help unload our wreaths today! 151 boxes of 12 wreaths per box. These drivers donate their time and Decker Truck lines donated their truck for this endeavor. Our driver, Lyle, came from Montana, drove to Maine to pick up the wreaths and back to central Iowa to deliver. It’s getting real now.
Can’t wait to see you all Saturday as we hold the ceremony at 11am and then lay the wreaths. Remember (our fallen), Honor (those serving) and Teach (our youth)!
Tonight the Ames Riders received a proclamation from the City of Ames designating this Saturday December 16th “Wreath Day”. Saturday at 11 we’ll hold a ceremony to place 1800 wreaths on the graves of Vererans buried in Ames.
Thank you City of Ames and to all the many volunteers that help us in this mission.
Just a couple weeks from now we'll gather at Ames Municipal Cemetery for Wreath Day. If you'd like to volunteer, meet us on December 16th, at 10:45am. Together we will celebrate our veterans in a sea of red and green.
Riders, Steve Sutton from the IAL Service Office called to say he his mother has passed away. He would like any Riders available to stand for her as she was also a Veteran. The services are at the Iowa Arboretum near Madrid and Linwood Cemetery in Boone on next Saturday 9/9. More info to follow.
