Fastening Solutions, Inc. (FSI) is pleased to announce the hiring of Robb Scofield as the new Business Development Manager. In this strategic role, Robb will be responsible for driving the growth of our multifamily construction business across key territories, including Alabama, the Gulf Coast/Florida Panhandle, and Western Georgia, encompassing the Atlanta metro market.

Robb joins our team with an impressive background of success in the construction related products industry, having held key positions with both manufacturers and distributors. His extensive experience and proven track record make him an invaluable asset to our organization.

Outside of his professional commitments, Robb is an avid golfer, a passionate college football fan (Roll Tide!), and an enthusiastic follower of the UFC. He also cherishes spending quality time with his family and actively participates in church events.

Fastening Solutions, Inc. (FSI) is proud to announce the hiring of David Whitmire as the new Manager, Fleet and Safety. Whitmire will be responsible for the strategic planning, efficient management, and regulatory compliance of FSI’s fleet operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing the acquisition, maintenance, and performance optimization of vehicles and warehouse equipment, while also ensuring the safety and compliance of fleet operations.

Prior to joining FSI, Whitmire was Fleet Maintenance Supervisor for ACME Brick Company. There, he oversaw operations across four states—Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee—mastering the intricacies of DOT/FMCSA regulations, preventive maintenance, and repair for a vast array of equipment. His leadership extended to a team of skilled mechanics and administrative personnel, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

“With a background spanning 24 years in Fleet Operations, including 12 years in supervisory and management roles, David's wealth of experience and his commitment to excellence are invaluable assets that will enhance FSI fleet operations and safety protocols,” said Charles Burks, Director of Human Resources. “His proven track record in problem-solving, planning, organizing, and managing people aligns perfectly with FSI's vision for the future and will set a high bar for fleet excellence at FSI.”

Southern Duo-Fast began in 1956 in Birmingham after Bill Rue, Sr. and B. R. Albright purchased the Albright Duo-Fast company from Dudley Albright. After struggling to get sales growing, the partners enjoyed a successful first year in the fastener business and decided to move from Birmingham into a former grocery store on Bell Street in Montgomery. AL.

In 1962, with their fastener sales increasing, a new sales/service branch and several salesmen were added in Amory, MS to serve the growing upholstered furniture market. Back in Montgomery, the success of their business required more space and employees so Southern Duo-Fast moved from Bell Street to a new Corporate office and warehouse on Southwest Street In the 70′s North Alabama was in rapid development and two new sales and service warehouses were added in Birmingham and Decatur, AL in 1971. During this time also, Bill Rue, Jr. joined the company in 1970 and Ricky Albright in 1975. Three more sales and service warehouses were added in the 70′s as the business continued to grow and prosper; Pensacola, FL in 1977, Mobile, AL and Jackson, MS in 1978. In the 80′s Southern Duo-Fast added salesmen, office and service personnel and opened two new more sales and service warehouses in Dothan and Haleyville, AL. The 90′s reflected a continuation of the growth for Southern Duo-Fast as well as bringing the challenges of our rapidly changing industry, Plans to meet these challenges included the construction of our new corporate headquarters in Montgomery as well as the addition of new sales and service warehouses in greater Atlanta, GA area in Marietta and Duluth and down south in Douglas, GA and in Destin, FL. Also in 1999, Bill Rue, Jr. became the sole shareholder of the company. Bill intends to continue the policies of the company that have made it so successful. After the turn of the century, more sales and service warehouses were added in Abita Springs and Shreveport, LA; Poplar Bluff, MO; Benton, AR, McDonough, GA and Savannah, GA. In April of 2004 the Southern Duo-Fast name was changed to Fastening Solutions to better reflect the broad spectrum of products it was now offering. In 2011, the acquisition of All Pak, Inc., Jacksonville, FL enabled FSI to begin offering customers a wide range of industrial packaging products – steel/polyester strapping, tools and machines, stretch film, edge protection – in addition to nails, staples, screws and the tools that drive them. As FSI approaches its 60th anniversary, the Company remains committed to providing smart, effective solutions to the customers it is proud to serve.
