Fun yummy “dirt” and worms activity with OT for kids!!
Following a recipe works on so many skills including: ✨Develop executive functioning skills such as planning, organizing, and sequencing
✨Develops self-confidence in skills for daily living
✨Promote food exploration and sensory input through various textures for improved feeding tolerance
Ingredients: Chocolate jello pudding, crushed Oreos, & gummy worms
Happy OT Month!
Feeding is an important skill OT’s work on a daily basis.
Here are some tips to help your child participate in feeding!
1. Explore new foods through play - get creative and make food a fun experience!
2. “Touch, smell, kiss, lick, bite, eat”- This food progression method helps your child become comfortable by first touching the food with their fingers, smelling the food, then eventually working towards kissing, licking, biting and eating it.
3. Model - provide positive interactions with food so your child can see the food presented isn’t scary.
4. Mealtime routine - create a routine where your child has 3 meals a day at the same time everyday.
When your kiddo tolerates having her hair styled ✨✨

Here is a great resource created by one of our graduate OT students for fine motor activities for babies to 10 year olds!
I just took my youngest child with autism to the University of Utah where he is bravely choosing to be completely independent and start his college journey 10 hours from home, several states away. One of the hardest things I’ve had to do…walk away and leave him in the unknown, rooming with strangers, unsupported, unexperienced, packed with his youth, humble and extra empathetic soul, primed to be taken advantage of. Be proud and excited for him, yet experience great sorrow in saying goodbye.
Driving back without him, I listened to Granger Smith’s new book on audio, “Like a River.” I have been following Granger and his family since his youngest (at the time…don’t want to spoil the story!) drowned at age 3 in 2019. Even though I had listened to interviews with Granger and his wife and followed their you tube channel “the smiths,” I was glued to every word he read about his journey through that unthinkable day, and the even more dark and deafening days following, figuring out how to navigate life with insurmountable grief.
Having a child with a special need is never anything that a mother or father prepares for. Whether your child is born with a known genetic syndrome, general delays grow with development, a regression happens, or a traumatic injury occurs, milestones are missed and somehow you melt through the sorrow and disbelief to advocating and championing this sweet soul created from your DNA. At least, that’s what is supposed to happen.
Granger depicts beautifully in his book how grief from a loss and joy from blessings in life can coexist together, literally sharing the same space in a room, in your heart and mind. If you are in need of hearing more about this, I highly recommend checking out this audiobook. He reads it himself, but also gives side talks that the paper book doesn’t offer. It inspired me greatly on my journey home and I thought I would share the recommendation for anyone here who may be wrestling with a new diagnosis or new to therapy and the world of parenting a child with special needs.
We are hiring a PT and OT! Give us a call if you’re interested or message us here.
Our schedule shifted and we have open spots coming up!
Starting September 18th through the end of the year we have 4 spots open if you want to book an intensive for your child! Sessions recommended at minimum are 3 weeks, Monday through Thursdays 2-5pm.
Some of you may be noticing a lot of change going on within our clinic. This is the best time of year to change things up, while kids are starting new school years, with new teachers, new school clothes, new lunchboxes and meal ideas, changes in our daylight, temperatures and cooler evenings, changes in our sleep schedule, wake schedule and homework now added to the schedule.
If there’s one thing life has proven to me, it is that change is certain. Many times we can take advantage of change to improve upon what was. This has always been my mindset, especially in raising my triplets plus one.
We are welcoming the upcoming changes in our clinic setup to be more inclusive and safe for our little ones. While many of our staff are moving on to other opportunities, it is a welcoming change to introduce new expertise and ideas to foundations already laid. Many of you parents won’t see it that way. I encourage you to see this perspective. Just like leaves that fall in autumn, they make way for new growth and beauty during the next season, with even stronger and sturdier foundation and roots.
Trust in the season to come. And enjoy the beauty it promises.

Sometimes we have to find creative ways to access resources for our children. We have partnered with the Maryam Parman Foundation for Children twice now to provide funding for children to attend a therasuit intensive session. Link in our bio if you want to donate or learn more about it ❤️
Seven years ago today we opened our door, at the time of just Suite 150. We had just one bathroom for EVERYONE to use, the treadmill was in my office, and we had a tiny waiting room area. So much unknown was before me, as there still is today. I’ve seen staff revolve, and many children and families begin therapies and then graduate. We’ve started our BUG Buddies nonprofit, allowing every child the chance for social and developmental focused group experiences. We started our therasuit intensive program allowing a progressive approach to mobility to be accessible here in Southern California, while a limited resource in the USA. We grew and added on Suite 160, changing our front entrance, and then the upstairs two suites for bonus space, a kitchen, and more bathrooms ❤️
What an amazing way to celebrate the freedoms of America on July 4th and then celebrate the entrepreneurship and opportunity of our community with our clinic birthday, July 5th, 2016.
Many cheers to all the people that have helped shape our clinic along the way 🥂🇺🇸💕🎉🥳🎈
Y’all don’t forget it’s country western week over yonder. We look forward to seeing some great pics from our waiting area photo area. Please share and tag us!
We can only ask you to put yourself in the shoes of a parent who just found out her little girl is fighting so hard to stay in the race if life. Please click on the link in our bio to read B.G.’s story and consider donating so that she might receive treatment that shouldn’t be so very expensive. Thank you for opening your hearts to be filled by this sweet soul.

It’s that time of year!!! Summer themes start next week, so get ready, get set and let’s go 👏
Many of you wait longer to hear “I love you” or don’t receive a hug today because your child has a different timeline and needs. Here is a huge shout to all of our special needs moms and grandmas. We see your hard work and compassion. Happy Mother’s Day!
Another celebration this week of an exceptional therapist we are saying good-bye to. Ms. Jolina, who was our very first OT, is moving to Arkansas with her family and we wish her all the very best in their new chapter! We will all miss her expertise and amazing ability to help children make such incredible gains. May she be a blessing to the new families that she will serve in a new state. We will always cherish her! ❤️
Today, our hearts are happy and sad as Ms. Debby leaves her last day as an OT assistant. She has been working hard to complete her masters degree in OT and is off to complete her fieldwork in various settings. I am so thankful for Debby’s passion, commitment and dedication that we have seen children prosper from themselves! We will have a place for her here always if one day she should return as an OT ❤️
So many great things happened in 2022 for our clinic and community. • we doubled our space
• expanded our OT staff by 2 therapists
• expanded our PT staff by 1 therapist
• started up speech therapy services with 2 therapists
• full year of therasuit intensives which were phenomenal!
• BUG Buddies continued to grow where every child is welcome to have a preschool or social experience in our 3:1 kids to teacher ratio classes, regardless of medical needs, potty training not required
Did you know our group programs included in BUG Buddies are a 501c3 non-profit? Your tuition to attend is a tax write off!
Every little bit helps as we took on a much larger space and rent this year. We would love to add more opportunities and giveaways to our families. If you are looking for a place to donate for your end of year giving, call/text our main office 714-794-5889 or email [email protected] ❤️
