CAVC honored one of our longtime peers, STU CASE, who, unfortunately, lost his battle with cancer this past year. Stu’s longtime business partner and friend Bob Mattias spoke about the early years of their friendship, and had a few funny stories to share. Next Jim Brinton spoke about the later years in Stu’s life when he worked for Jim. Greg Wilson also spoke as he was Stu’s immediate boss at the time and last Jerry Scott of Canteen Coastal, came up and surprised the audience with an incredible offer. Jerry and Loretta Scott would like to honor Stu with a yearly donation from their foundation. Each Operator and Associate winner of the year will get to choose a charity of their choice and the Scott Foundation will donate $1000. in Stu’s name to each charity. What a wonderful tribute to keep Stu Case in our memories!
PS: everyone was asked to wear their favorite Hawaiian shirt since we will always recall Stu wearing his favorite Tommy Bahama shirts

NAMA announced that Dick Atnip of Atnip Co.,Inc. has been named the 2022 Coffee Legend of the Year.

“Those who have had the pleasure to meet or work with Dick know he is undeniably deserving of this recognition,” said Carla Balakgie, FASAE, CAE, president & CEO of NAMA. “As a 60-year industry veteran and true pioneer in his field, Dick’s dedication has not only helped push the boundaries of vending and OCS products but has been instrumental in shaping both the industry and the association we are today.”

Atnip founded the Southern California-based Atnip Company in 1962, where today he remains president & CEO. Working alongside his family, the company has grown into the premier vending brokerage in the western region of the U.S and continues to promote new products and bring the latest innovations to customers in the industry.

Atnip was named to the NAMA Board of Directors in 1997 and became NAMA Chair in 2004, the first non-operator to do so. He has been previously recognized as a NAMA Industry Person of the Year and by the California Automatic Vending Council (CAVC) for his leadership. In 2017, Atnip was inducted into the NAMA Coffee Services Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in coffee services.

He will be recognized next week at the Coffee Tea & Water Show on Monday, November 14, during the opening session.
