Black Skincare Has been Overlooked For over thousands of years most of the recommendations you see on most platforms are for the average white male. Today we have a better understanding on melanin and pigmentation in the skin so let me tell you some fun facts !

•The Fuctional state of melonocytes cells are under genetic and hormonal controls. It establishes the level of Constitutive Skin (the basic color of protected, unexposed skin) and the facultative skin color (inducible / tan) is the intensified skin color produced by exposure to sunlight.

• There is no conclusive information about the origins of human color.

• 1977 Leakey and Lewin made an “intuitive Guess” that the loss of dark pigmentation , kinky hair probably occurred early in the evolution of Homo erectus “when our ancestors were still in Africa”

• They believed as H. erectus moved towards the northern region their skin color became lighter and lighter through genetic selection.

•BUT! It is not necessary to invoke genetic selection since completely isolated populations can differentiate through chance, called drift.

• Genetic Drift refers to random change in gene complex of a population.

•Skin care is regulated Primarily by genetic factors, sunlight, and hormones. But that’s not just it for melanins!

•Gloger Observed the regularities between the pigmentation and feathers and furs and the relationship of these colors to geographic areas in which these animals lived.
