Let us proudly introduce Manager Yuri Sachnowski of both Fletcher's and The Whale's Tail restaurants here at the hotel!

Originally from Palm Beach County, Florida, Yuri pursued Russian Literature and Philosophy in college and found his passion for the restaurant industry while serving in restaurants to fund his education. In June 2020, he made the move to Alaska and later joined the The Hotel Captain Cook in June 2022 as our Banquet Manager.

With his extensive experience in fine dining and cross-training in all front-of-house roles, Yuri brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to his work. Though he entered management by chance, his unwavering commitment to exceptional guest service sets him apart. Yuri’s love for great seafood and craft cocktails drives his mission to create unforgettable experiences for both visitors and locals alike.

Outside of work, he enjoys reading, dining at various restaurants, and exploring the wonders of Alaska. His dedication and rich background make Yuri an invaluable asset to our team. Please join us in showing our support and gratitude for Yuri!
