Flint Ridge Kennels

Is there a website to look at with listings of field trials(?) hunt tests(?), etc. that are for English Cockers? We have two of the little critters and I would like to go see what events they can be run in. I don’t think I am going to be in a horse owner for too much longer so some walking events would be something I might want to try.

Too many trials do not have 30 minute stakes. It is really difficult to get points for AFTCA in horseback trials. The Air Capital Field Trial Club will continue to hold 30 minute stakes to promote the sport and give handlers the opportunity to compete for AFTCA awards.

This dog is something else. He loves to be outside and will spend hours on end smelling around the yard. If I am outside, he wants to be outside. About the only thing he likes better is going in the car. If you open a car door and he is around, he will be in the car at the blink of an eye. I think as far as dogs are concerned, he is living the good life.

In an odd turn of events, we are going to have a litter of puppies. No, these are not Pointer puppies. This litter is Field Bred English Cockers. The pedigrees of the Sire and Dam are outstanding. They are both high energy dogs that run like crazy outside but are our house dogs. It will be a couple of weeks to see what we get. The sire is liver and the dam is black. There may be a couple available, depending on how many she has.

I just got my first new style registration and pedigree from UKC. I like the format. Pretty cool.

Here it is my field trial friends. Klaus Schmidt wins the NBHA National Open Championship with Robert. If you have ever seen Robert in compete, he is a classy running dog that is stylish and intense on point. Robert is a bird dog and is a joy to watch. Congratulations are in order for Klaus and Robert. I am not sure but I know this is at least two National Championships that Klaus has won. Not bad for a boy from Kansas!

The ultimate irony. I can’t find my GPS collar…. I might have loaned it to someone or I might have put it somewhere where I wouldn’t lose it. Either way, it doesn’t seem right. I guess if I find it I should put one of those tile tags on it so I don’t lose it again.

I am looking for a six foot diameter steel stock tank. It doesn’t have to hold water but it can’t be totally rusted out either. Needs to be near Wichita, KS.

Ryder is surplus to our ongoing field trial needs. He is a registered TWH gelding. He is about 15.3. He has been a field trial horse most of his life. He will do whatever you ask him to do. He has been ridden to handle dogs, scout, judge and just walk in the gallery. He is an easy keeper. He is 10 years old. At certain times of the year, he is a striking dapple grey. He is a good horse for an intermediate rider. He has a good head on him and will not hurt you. He is on pasture near Humbolt, KS. I can bring him back here to Andover, KS for showing. Air Capital Field Trial Club has scheduled our spring trial for April 6 & 7. This will be an NBHA walking trial. This time we will add an Amateur puppy stake as well as the Open puppy stake. We will make further details available as we get closer to the date.

I was at a Perfection Kennel clinic in Texas and remember seeing a box to hold quail. These boxes had really nice design that made it easy to feed and water the birds so you could keep them for a few days. Does anyone have a holding box like this that could either post or send me pictures? The little orange plastic crates are a nightmare to get food and water to the quail. Thanks.

Anyone have any well started dogs for sale?

We have sever two hole and two three dog boxes available. These are made with a light weight. They are big enough for the largest dogs. It would be best to make new doors for these as the original doors really weren’t too sturdy. These boxes would be great in the bed of a truck or inside a trailer. The three hole boxes are $50 each. The two hole boxes are $50 each. Pick up in Wichita, KS.

We weighed it today at 3,400 lbs. empty. 18’ 5” long, 92” wide, 54” tall (box dimensions). Dog compartments are 36” deep, 22-1/2” wide and 24” tall. The tongue and hitch add another 4’ to the length. The overall height of the trailer is just under 6’. There are two areas, one in each side above the fenders that are 6’ wide and 15” tall that can be made into storage compartments. The tires are ST205/75D15. I will probably replace them with load range D. The trailer has two 3500 lb. axles.

We have a three horse straight load trailer that we no longer need. This Twister trailer is built to the highest standards. I have replaced all the brakes, hubs and bearings and it will have new tires/wheels. This trailer is in excellent condition. Located in Andover, KS. $12,500.

Flint Ridge Black Jack is looking for a new kennel. You can see the pedigree’s of his sire and dam. He comes from some great dogs. I have too many dogs and not enough time. Jack has been through the puppy development program at Perfection Kennels. He placed in the spring Puppy/Derby classic at Dexter. He will make a very nice trial dog or hunting dog. I have six of these dog houses. They are about 24” tall inside, 24” deep and 36” long. They sit up off the ground 4”. They are made from insulated panels that garage doors are made from. They are fiberglass skin inside and out with about 2” foam sandwiched in between. They are held together with metal. I have six of these and would prefer to sell them as a group. $275 each. I have a bank of six 5 X15 Kennel Connectors kennels for sale. This includes the roof and insulated dog houses. These kennels are made with 9 gauge chain link, Schedule 40 tubing, wrapped top and bottom with stainless steel wire. The Kennel Connector system assures that these kenbels will last a long time without rusting out. The roof is integrated into the system. We started building these kennels in 2018 and the ones I have in my main bank look like they did when we first installed them. The gates are our proprietary design with slam latches. I will disassemble these but you have to load and transport. They are heavy. We installed these all over the country and i can tell you to bring a heavy duty trailer. This goes as a unit. I will not separate or sell one or two. If you don’t want the roof, no problem. The price is the same. I live in Kansas and can tell you these have never moved an inch and we can have some pretty powerful wind. The price for this setup is $10,000.

Touch’s Mac Daddy X Flint Ridge Re*****on. Remi proved she can produce some nice dogs.

I stole this picture from Andy Taylor. He is working with a dog that we sold. This juvenile is out of our Flint Ridge Re*****on, Remi, and Touch’s Mac Daddy litter. It looks like he is turning out to have some style and I think, is going to be a pretty nice bird dog. Andy Neria told me he was going to be a good one and as usual, he was right.

We are going to have a special on these two one year old females. As you can see, they have a little too much tail. That is the only problem they have. They are both crazy about birds and have good noses. They will be medium running hunting dogs. You know, not so close you are tripping over them but close enough that you can handle them and shoot the birds they point. They have both been over at Tegrity Kennels for two months of puppy development. They have been introduced to birds and have been shot over with a blank pistol. They have been worked off foot, ATV and horseback. They come out of two really nice dogs, our Hackberry Flint Ridge Re*****on and Touch’s Mac Daddy. I had hoped they would out grow that tail thing but I can’t wait any longer to see. I am just wanting to get my training money back for these two. PM me for the details.one
