613 East Liberty Street Opens 9/7!

Hello friends. It’s been a very busy month at Gamma Piercing. We’ve been working really hard to prepare our new space for business. We will officially move to 613 Liberty Street on September 7, 2021.

If you’ve scheduled an appointment in September, please note that the 1st through the 5th will still be at our original location on South University Avenue inside the Galleria. Appointments starting the 7th will be at our Liberty location. We should have a lot of new spots open up to give us more opportunities to work with you.

It will be a few months before our South University location is totally closed, but appointments there will be limited, as will the jewelry selection.

Masks are still required in the store. Vaccination Cards for under-the-mask piercings still required too.

The CDC currently considers the rate of transmission in Washtenaw County to be "High", so we are asking our customers to help us out with compliance on these precautions. If you ever need a mask, we will be happy to provide one.

Hello Friends!

Gamma is moving to a new, bigger, spectacular location! We are taking over a portion of what used to be American Apparel, on Liberty Street near State street, right in between the Michigan Theater and the State Theater!

This space was designed by an amazing team of architects and designers led by Lisa Sauve and Sidney Migoski at Synecdoche Design Studio (https://www.synecdochedesign.com/) . They’ve done a truly fabulous job of translating our need for state-of-the-art safety protocols into a calming, clean, and beautiful piercing studio.

Our new facility will also have two piercing procedure rooms, which will hopefully translate into less waiting time for new appointments. Currently, we are booking out about 4 to 6 weeks in advance. In theory, with twice the space for piercings to be performed, we should be able to cut that down to two weeks.

Meet Our Newest Piercer: Kira Herman!

The reduction in wait times wouldn’t be possible without the addition of a new piercer. We’re so pleased to announce Kira Herman will be joining us starting in September. Kira has been a piercer at Iris Piercing in Chicago, and she has a gift for jewelry styling and technical placements. More importantly, Kira is a great fit due to her calm, caring, and gentle bedside manner. Gamma is thrilled to be able to bring another talented piercer to the team!

Jef's Book Is Out Now!

To conclude all of the big news, the book Jef was a contributing author to, The Piercing Bible, was released in June by Ten Speed Press, a division of Random House. “The Piercing Bible, Revised and Expanded, contains a complete overhaul of the original text. It includes essential medical and technical updates, as well as refreshed illustrations, diagrams, and jewelry photography, to reflect today's standards and best practices for safe, professional piercing.
