It originated in 1938 when The Salvation Army created the event to honor their members who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. These brave volunteers, known as Donut Lassies, baked and delivered donuts to boost morale on the front lines. 🍩

If you’d like to try your hand at making the century-old donuts that started it all, here’s the recipe:

Salvation Army WWI Donut Recipe:

Yield: 60 donuts
Ingredients:
2 large eggs
5 cups flour
2 cups sugar
5 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 tablespoon salt
1 3/4 cups milk
1 tub lard (substitute with butter or vegetable oil)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients (except for oil) to make the dough.
Thoroughly knead the dough, roll it smooth, and cut into rings less than 1/4 inch thick.
Drop the rings into hot oil, turning them slowly until browned.
Remove the donuts, let excess oil drip off, and dust with powdered sugar.
Let cool and enjoy! 🎉

The Blue Angels are renowned for their precision and thrilling aerial displays. 🛩️✨

For those who might not be familiar, the Blue Angels are the United States Navy’s flight demonstration squadron. They perform incredible maneuvers in their F/A-18 Hornet aircraft, showcasing the skill and teamwork of naval aviators.

Here’s a breakdown of their schedule:

Tuesday, May 21:
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: The Blue Angels will circle the city. This is a great opportunity for spectators to catch a glimpse of their formation flying.
2 p.m.: Flight rehearsal over the Severn River. During this rehearsal, they’ll practice their signature moves and formations.
Wednesday, May 22:
2 p.m.: The full flight demonstration takes place over the Severn River. This is when the Blue Angels perform their high-speed passes, tight turns, and breathtaking aerobatics. It’s a must-see event!
