Outside Help Needed
If you know of anyone who would be interested in doing some mowing, who might have some experience on larger mowing equipment or is capable, we need a part time worker who can fill in that capacity for the duration of the mowing season. Also, we could use one more cart cleaning person, which requires no training and can be 16 years of age or older. For either position, please email us at [email protected] We can discuss pay based off age and experience.
Thanks as always for your continued support!
The real golf season is rolling along, just to advise everyone, all our services are online for your golf excursions. Come into the pro shop inside and check in, and feel free to sit at the bar and enjoy your choice of beverage. We are featuring "Church Street Brewing" this season, they are a local brewer from the burbs that has caught on with the area. Also our event tent is going up soon, so if your looking for an affordable venue from which to reunite with family after the last debacle of a year, we have just the space to make that happen safely. The course is playing exceptionally well as the dryer spring is allowing for faster conditions in general, any rain will get soaked up quickly and do not anticipate soggy conditions any time soon. Please make your tee times online, and call us with cancellations and changes as needed. As a reminder, the online tee time system does not recognize membership, so simply book as the regular public and your membership will be applied at the time you arrive. Thank you all for your continued support of the course, we are making improvements each year and progress certainly has been made. Also we are applying a pace of play program to the weekend mornings that should relieve frustration with slower play.
Spring Update 3/13/21
We are currently allowing walking on a limited course, holes 1-5, then take a left before 6 and head over to 17-18, finish your 9 holes by playing 10-11. Temporary greens only for this weekend. We are hoping for a hard opening next weekend, I will open the online tee sheet Thursday if this pans out. We will be walking only to start, and we want you to come in to the clubhouse and pro shop to check in, bring your mask as that is still the proper way to protect our elderly and those with immunity issues. The bar will have a limited supply of stock beers to start, and plenty of distilled liquors to indulge your fancy. We will have the basic hot dog at the turn to start if your in need of protein. This year we plan to bring in a local brewery, Church Street. They have some excellent beers for the connoisseur types like myself! J and J gaming will be online shortly after next weekend as well...stay tuned...we have bigger plans for 2021...Hope you got into the Spring Scramble filled both days in a couple of hours basically!
Spring Update 3/8/21
The course is still at least 50% snow covered and our Golf Course Superintendent tried probing for temperatures today, but as suspected, he could not even get the probe into the soil as a frost layer is still beneath. We wait till that frost layer is receded a good amount before we let players on to the course. Later this week after all the snow melts, and it has seen some warmth and presumably some rain he will check once again. Expectations seem to point more toward the 20th range as an opening day for the season based off of these circumstances, but we will be happy to open sooner if this changes!
Spring Update 2/24/2021
Given the amount of snow still on the ground it will be week or two before we look at re-opening the course, assuming this thawing pattern continues. Returning to Valley Ridge GC in 2021 is gaming in the 19th hole, which is scheduled for install and being online by the middle of March. Masks will still be required to start the season in the Clubhouse, but we will want you to come into the Pro-shop to check in once we re-open. Stay tuned, the golf season will get underway soon!

VALLEY RIDGE GOLF COURSE MEMBERSHIPS 2021
As many of you know, Valley Ridge Golf Course is now a busy place, and with the demand for golf we have adjusted annual memberships rates to reflect that. These memberships pay dividends for those who plan on playing 50 times or more per year, which means several rounds per week. Update: Some melting taking place so Tuesday 12/22 we will be open at 10:30 am with some temporary greens and special routing, allowing play on holes 1-5, 17-18, 10-11 for a nine hole loop. Please call the course for details and for your tee time.
Monday the 21st
Looks like Monday would be the next day we would possibly open back up for play-still ice in quite a few places left over from last weeks rain, need that to melt and then we can consider re-opening for Monday. Stay tuned as I will update this and open up the tee sheet for Monday if predictions hold true.
We have opened up the tee sheet for 12/9 Wednesday and 12/10 Thursday as they do seem warm enough to thaw and allow play. Even on these days frost is predictable till 10:30 am, so we have opened the Tee sheet after that until 2 pm. The daylight hours are very short so take advantage and make your tee time now!
??End of Season??
We basically are open year round, but during stretches when the lows are in the 20s and the highs only in the 30s, the course really does not thaw enough to allow play. This week 11/30-12/4 appears that to be that cold. When we see sufficient warming we will open up the tee sheet, you can also call the course for updates. We do expect that during these times no one will attempt to walk on the course as the greens can be damaged from this. Cart availability may also be limited by winter conditions, so please call ahead for full details.
Fall Special
Play Monday through Thursday for only $25 for 18 holes with a cart. The weather certainly looks doable for several more weeks, and we are doing a good job keeping the leaves cleaned up, so bring a guest or take advantage of these bonus days of the golf season. Make your tee time today at valleyridgegolfcourse.com
Sunday Afternoon Golf
Just wanted to let everyone in on a secret, which is that Sunday afternoon is now the best time to get out and play golf without the usual playing pressure we see all year. NFL Football has most of the regulars locked to their TV sets, while the course is relatively empty! Meaning you can get around much quicker and enjoy some time with less experienced players you may want to take out. The afternoon rates are the same as our weekday rates so you only pay $34 for 18 with a cart. So, why not get out of the house while the weather is conducive to outdoor activity? Winter will have us all wishing we could get out for that last round soon enough!
September Golf
The best part of the golf season is the fall, especially as the grass refreshes and the trees start to change color, that is what we have to look forward to. This rain has greened up the course significantly, and is helping the turf to become hardy for the rest of the season into next year. Do not miss out on this bonus part of the season coming up, stable weather is predicted starting tomorrow and for a long stretch!
Mon-Thur. Special 11 am -1 pm Play 18 Holes w/cart $29
Must have tee time and refer to special promo "Lunch Special"
to obtain the discounted rate, must play 18 holes and have at least 2 players to apply.
July 4th
Lots of boating on the Chain, so the course is quieter than usual. Be sure to book your tee time and enjoy a round of golf before the festivities later in the day...Happy Independence Day! Book online or by calling us directly 224-788-9172
Saturday... Rain Chances Weaken...
Get out Saturday, the forecast all week was 80% chance of rain and that has been pushed off into the evening...with that allot of tee times are remaining and it might just be the best day to play over the weekend...Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there.
Tee Time Suggestions
Just a quick note especially to our members, we know that our on-line tee time reservation system can be slow to respond, generally if it is spinning after you completed the steps, like it is taking a while to think, that tee time will go through and you will receive a confirmation shortly. For those hoping to possibly increase the number of players, very important, please make the tee time big enough to accommodate the maximum potential players. If you show up to the course with more players than the tee time allowed, the extra players might be refused play as we have already booked four players in that time slot. The best plan is to book enough to cover your potential players and call us the morning of the golf day to adjust. Much easier to subtract than to add... at least as far as golf is concerned.
Just a quick note on the 70th anniversary memberships...They are on hold till after the 15th of June, we have temporarily sold out. If current trends continue we will offer it to another 100 or so after that point. We apologize for the ridiculous phone volume that we experienced during that time frame. All of this was scheduled to be complete before we ever got to the busy part of our season. As with all situations lately we did our best. The phones are back to normal and play is settling down with workers returning to work. Hours in the bar and restaurant will be expanded once we are allowed seating indoors, that looks like around the end of this month. Thank you for all your business and support!
