Is your horse protected from West Nile Virus? With an increase in positive cases within California it’s definitely something to consider and think about. We at SoCal Equine Hospital Apple Valley recommend giving a West Nile vaccination twice yearly, once in the spring and once in the fall. Have you spotted the vet truck around making ranch calls? Need a vet to come to you? Dr. Garloff is now serving the Apple Valley Hospital location both at the hospital and making ranch calls. Happy Thanksgiving to all our clients and patients! We are thankful for our wonderful clients that allow us to do what we enjoy and love everyday. BIO- Dr. Wan graduated from the University of Georgia in 1989 and later completed his surgical residency at the University of Tennessee. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He is well versed in all major fields of surgery: soft tissue, orthopedics, laparoscopic, and laser. Along with his surgical interests, he has spent many years honing his skills as a lameness expert. Dr. Wan is well versed in diagnosing and treating all types of lameness problems. He has continually sought to learn from the best in the country as well as around the world. This has given him a highly respected reputation among his peers and clients. Dr. Wan is an active member of AVMA, ACVS, AAEP, CVMA, and ISLEP.
Your equine partner not feeling well? Here’s some simple signs to look for. First question usually we will always ask is “Have you taken a temp?” One of the most underrated tools to have in your first aid kit, or on hand is a digital thermometer. Which is readily available at any store in the wellness isles. Also we always recommend you make sure you take a temp prior to giving any pain relief medications to give the most accurate reading.
