Double Trouble Incoming. Meet Sawyer #2441611 and Bean #244612. The 2 ways to tell these to apart physically are Sawyer is slightly larger with more pink on the top and side of his nose and Bean is a tad bit smaller with less pink on the nose. Sawyer is 2.5 year old Labrador mix. Bean is a 4 year old Labrador mix. This tag team of energy came into the shelter together as strays. Personality wise Bean is the more curious on and its harder to get his attention. While sawyer is happiest standing next to someone getting pet. Both boys did well on a walk and ignored the other dogs in passing. We recommend researching the breed of any pet you are considering. Here are some things to keep in mind: The sweet-faced, lovable Labrador Retriever is one of America's most popular dog breeds, year after year. Labs are friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited companions who have more than enough affection to go around for a family looking for a medium-to-large dog. Labs are famously friendly. They are companionable housemates who bond with the whole family, and they socialize well with neighbor dogs and humans alike. But don't mistake his easygoing personality for low energy: The Lab is an enthusiastic athlete that requires lots of exercise, like swimming and marathon games of fetch, to keep physically and mentally fit. The Labrador Retriever is an exuberant, very energetic breed that needs lots of exercise every day. A Lab who doesn't get enough exercise is likely to engage in hyperactive and/or destructive behavior to release pent-up energy. The breed's favorite activities are retrieving and swimming. Labs also love to burn up energy on hunting trips or at field trials, as well as by participating in canine sports such as agility, obedience, tracking, and dock diving. Many Labs also work hard in important roles such as search-and-rescue, drug and bomb detection, and as service and assistance dogs.

Meet Angel #244662! Angel is one of the easiest going and cuddly land hippos ever encountered her at the shelter. When staff enters Angels kennel, she runs up to them, leans on them, and give them her paw to hold. While out for her walk Angel remained close to the handler and ignored the other dogs in passing. As Land Hippos are not an AKC Registered breed we don't have breed info to share today.

Meet Catsy Cline #242199! Catsy Cline is a 2 year old domestic medium hair calico. Catsy is a very laid back and independent girl. While she appreciates some affection, she's happiest doing as she pleases. Catsy has roomed with multiple different cats and done well with both male and females of multiple different age groups.
Meet Little Foot #244610! Little Foot is a 3.5 month old male Australian Kelpie and German Shepherd mix. As Little Foot is a young pup, he is very spry and full of energy. While interacting with staff he has been very jumpy, showing lots of play bows, he barks, and he gets mouthy when excited. While being a young pup he appears to have had some basic training as he walks well on a leash and knows the command "sit". We recommend researching the breed of any pet you are considering. Here are some things to keep in mind: The Australian Kelpie is a lithe, active dog, capable of untiring work. He is extremely intelligent, alert, and eager with unlimited energy. Australian Kelpies need a lot of exercise to be their happiest selves. A good jog or long workout combined with the mental exercise of obedience lessons should be done daily. Kelpies prefer to have a job to do (they will try to herd other dogs, pets, even children), but they also have an 'off' switch. They can do a five-mile run, then settle on the couch with the family to watch a movie. Kelpies are not suited to apartment living as they need space for their limitless energy.
Meet Ford #244385! Ford is an Adult Great Pyrenees. While here in the shelter Ford has done well with all staff constantly leaning on them wanting to be pet. When taken out for walks Ford remains close to the handler and ignores the others in passing. He appears to have been an outside only dog as pees on all the walls he can when out of his kennel which is typical of his breed to be outdoor only. We recommend researching the breed of any pet you are considering. Here are some things to keep in mind: The Great Pyrenees is a large, thickly coated, and immensely powerful working dog bred to deter sheep-stealing wolves and other predators on snowy mountaintops. Pyrs today are mellow companions and vigilant guardians of home and family. Pyrs are not a highly active breed. The breed was developed to be a livestock guardian and has been used since ancient times to protect flocks from wolves, bears, and human foes. Moderate exercise such as walks with their owner will help keep them healthy and happy. Pyrs were bred to be independent thinkers, to work without guidance watching and protecting their flock. Although they are intelligent, standard obedience training will be met with great indifference. They don't see the point of all that sitting, heeling, and staying. They will let their boredom show by performing any task you deem important with extremely slow responses. Nonetheless, early socialization and puppy training classes are recommended to help give the Pyr a good start in becoming a well-adjusted, well-mannered companion.
Meet Archer #244625! Archer is a 1.5 year old Australian Shepherd. While this breed is known for being very intelligent Archer is more known for his goofy personality and love of cuddles. He may be part lickopotomous; when interacting with staff he doesn't stop giving kisses, climbing into their laps, or standing paws on their shoulders. We recommend researching the breed of any pet you are considering. Here are some things to keep in mind: he Australian Shepherd, the cowboy's herding dog of choice, is a medium-sized worker with a keen, penetrating gaze in the eye. Aussies exhibit an irresistible impulse to herd, anything: birds, dogs, kids. This strong work drive can make Aussies too much dog for a sedentary pet owner. Aussies are remarkably intelligent, quite capable of hoodwinking an unsuspecting novice owner. In short, this isn't the pet for everyone. But if you're looking for a brainy, tireless, and trainable partner for work or sport, your search might end here. A high-energy, athletic dog, the Aussie needs a great deal of exercise on a daily basis. At minimum, he should have a large, fenced-in yard to run around in for at least an hour or two daily. Aussies bond closely with their owners and love to accompany them on long walks' or, better yet, hikes. Once an Aussie leaves puppyhood behind, and his skeletal system is fully formed, he can make a great running companion. The best course, however, is to give the Aussie a job, whether that is herding livestock, shepherding children, or competing in canine events such as obedience, herding or agility trials, or dock diving.
Lettuce introduce you to the hoppyiest lady's around. Meet Bella #244454 and Stella #244453 adult female rabbits. These 2 are whiskers away from being the most charming rabbits around. Both lady's are happiest chowing down on their lettuce and climbing into your lap.

Meet Stella #242802! Stella is a 8-week-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy who came into the shelter as a stray at just a few days old. Staff has watched her grow into a happy, loving and playful young pup. She has tons of energy and will turn anything close to her into a toy. We recommend researching the breed of any pet you are considering. Here are some things to keep in mind: Staffordshire Bull Terrier retains the traits of courage and tenacity. Happily, good breeding transformed this former gladiator into a mild, playful companion with a special feel for kids. Sweet-natured, eager-to-please Staffies with a reputation for being a patient companions to the whole family. The Stafford requires regular exercise to stay mentally and physically fit. This exercise can be chasing a ball tossed across the backyard, running alongside a biking or jogging owner, or just a nice, long hike through the woods. Although a Stafford in good physical condition can keep up with an athletic owner, they usually settle right in when they come back in the house after a good exercise session. The breed can be heat intolerant and should never be overworked in warm or humid weather.

Meet Quava #244216! Quava is a 5 year old spayed domestic short hair tortoise shell cat. She came to us overweight as she is a whopping 20lbs. Due to her weight, she will need to go to a home that would be willing to put her on a diet and get her to a healthy weight. Per her previous owners Quava is litter box trained, does well with kids and adults, and loves treats. They also stated she would do best as an only cat.
Did you know????
Please feel free to pause to read the information below regarding Panleukopenia. During the warmer months (aka kitten season) urban areas are more likely to see outbreaks of FB as cats are more likely to come in contact with other cats.
Please also think about vaccinating your cats. It is highly unlikely for a fully vaccinated cat to contract the virus even when in contact with it.
Meet Mark Spritz #244046! Mark is a 6-month-old Doberman Pinscher. Mark is an outgoing and playful puppy. He has been kenneled with another Doberman and he did well with her. Mark has not been leash trained yet, but he was fine with being carried by staff. We recommend researching the breed of any pet you are considering. Here are some things to keep in mind: Sleek and powerful, possessing both a magnificent physique and keen intelligence, the Doberman Pinscher is one of dogkind's noblemen. This incomparably fearless and vigilant breed stands proudly among the world's finest protection dogs. The Doberman is an energetic athlete who needs a lot of exercise and free play. A Doberman will enjoy going for long daily walks or hikes with his owner, and having a large fenced area where he can run is vital for his physical and mental well-being. Participation in canine sports such as obedience, tracking, and agility will provide exercise for mind and body and fun times together for dog and owner.
