It is with heavy hearts that we sadly share the news of the passing of Dr. Clarke Poad. The founder of our clinic and an outstanding veterinarian, he impacted an immeasurable amount of lives, both animal and human. Our deepest condolences to his family and to all who loved him.

With summer in full swing, we thought this would be a great time to post about some summer safety tips ⛱ and while the infographic doesn't mention this, we'd also like to remind everyone how important flea and tick prevention is, we all want to keep the creepy crawlies off your companions! 🦟🕷

One of the best parts of working at our clinic is all of the interesting pets and people that we get to see and meet! Meet Francis, a giant Malaysian River turtle that was rescued by J & R Aquatic Animal Rescue after his owner passed away. He stopped by the clinic today for a check up before hopefully going to his new home at a zoo where he will have some new friends!

This species is the largest freshwater turtle in South East Asia, reaching a maximum length of 31 inches, and a maximum weight of up to 110 pounds! It inhabits large lakes, swamps and slow moving rivers. They are mainly piscivorous (fish-eating), but may also occasionally eat fallen fruit and consume other available vertebrates.

Definitely a once in a lifetime experience!! 🐢
