Classical School Appleton
BUILDING A JUST AND EXCELLENT EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION.
Appleton Area School District middle school families, join us to hear from author and educator Chris Balme as he shows how to tap into the positive potential of middle school on Thursday, August 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Kaleidoscope Academy (318 E. Brewster St. Appleton). This free discussion will be open to all AASD middle school families.
It begins with understanding what's going on inside the middle school brain. Balme introduces three key developmental needs for middle schoolers, offering practical tips to support them at each step of the way. Drawing on his experience as a middle school founder and principal, as well as the latest neuroscience, he offers a fresh and uplifting take on the transformative years of middle school.
This talk is based on Balme's 2022 book, Finding the Magic in Middle School, which quickly became an Amazon bestseller for adolescent psychology. Renowned adolescent psychologist and author Madeline Levine called it "a must-read for anyone who has a tween or works with tweens."

Welcome to Classical School
The 2020-2021 school year marks our twenty-second year of operation. Classical School is an instrumentality of the Appleton Area School District and is an official Core Knowledge® school.
When students graduate from Classical School their minds hold vast amounts of knowledge–scientific, historical, grammatical, linguistic, mathematic, artistic, and more. With a strong, broad foundation, our students see connections in their world that pique their curiosity and make them enthusiastic to know more; as they mature their knowledge will help them reason, analyze, think critically, question themselves and others, and spend the rest of their lives seeking knowledge (and finding joy in that pursuit). We demand much of our students, and in turn their hard work rewards them with remarkable character and powerful intellect, for a Classical School education turns students into scholars and shapes today’s young children into tomorrow’s smart, savvy, and compassionate citizens.
We invite you to explore our website to learn more about our mission, curriculum, and much more.
For information about enrollment, please contact Joanne Bielmeier at (920) 997-1399 Ext. 3398, or via email at [email protected].
