On January 31 2007, six months after being deployed, on a road side bomb-sweeping mission in the area of operations, an pressure plate hit Jeremy's Humvee. The explosion launched Jeremy 35 yards away from the Humvee. The driver suffered 3rd degree burns on 80% of his body. Two other Navy Corpsmen lost their lives. Jeremy was medevac to Al Asad Airforce, then to Germany where he was induced into a medicated coma for nine weeks. Jeremy spent 4 1/2 years at Walter Reed Hospital. Jeremy lost his left leg below the knee, and a broken right foot which required 6 screws, with nerve and muscle damage in his lower right leg Jeremy is enjoying golf again with help and instruction from from Bob Burns. Thru May and Memorial Day, we take time to remember our Military Veterans and those who lost their lives. 🇺🇸

Two very longtime friends as PGA of America professionals. Bob Burns and Dennis Tiziani. Dennis is former president of the Wisconsin PGA. Dennis was longtime golf coach of the Wisconsin Badgers golf teams. He is father-in-law to PGA TOUR Champions and Wisconsin favorite Steve Stricker. Both pictured here Sunday in the the Grill Room at TPC Wisconsin in Madison with a table full of Bob Burns Persimmon golf heads from our workshop. Dennis won lots of tournaments with his Bob Burns Persimmon Driver. So much fun these two had selecting wood grain and classic shapes while talking about putter weights. Dennis is selecting a "Brassie" 2 fairway wood head.

Bob Burns Golf: Adaptive instruction for golfers with disabilities

Hubert served in the U.S. Marine Corps for seven years as an infantryman. On March of 2011, Hubert was leading his squad on patrol in Afghanistan when he suffered a blast from an IED and lost part of his left leg. Hubert is enjoying golf with instruction from Bob Burns. A top view of the Bob Burns Golf custom persimmon 5 wood from the set we made for Bob Hope in August 1988. The top crown of the head is laser engraved with Hope's famous logo. This persimmon set was stained in a light blonde color we called "golden mist". The face inserts are made from brown colored phenolic fiber with a brass inlay. Made with senior flex gold boron graphite shafts. Finished with gold whipping thread and soft grips. Bob Hope absolutely loved the set of woods. He even signed a picture of the clubs for us.

Throwback Thursday: Its August 1988. Bob presents Bob Hope with Bob Burns Custom made persimmon woods. The crown of each head we made is laser engraved with Bob Hope's logo. Bob Hope was in Wisconsin for a charitable golf outing and live show at Fox Hills Golf Course in Mishicot. This picture was taken on film by then 16 year old son Robbie, who made it to the front of the media with just a small camera. Bob played in that golf round with Bob Hope. All proceeds raised benefitted the Children's Medical Hospital of Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin PGA Section 2024 spring meeting included a Q&A session with special guest PGA of America National Vice President Don Rea. During a break from the business meeting, Don sat down with Bob taking some time to review Bob's philanthropy work including teaching Military Veterans, physically challenged golfers, high schools, and golf teams, children with autism, and our custom club manufacturing operation. Throwback Thursday: Its August 2010, the PGA Championship was being hosted at Whistling Straits. Bob Burns is in the Titleist custom club tour van truck with wedge designer Bob Vokey. At the time of this tournament, the United States Golf Association - USGA handed down a decision long debated with golf club companies about irons and the "square grooves". With these two headlines in golf, Perry Kidder, then station manager at CBS WFRV Local 5 in Green Bay wanted the story on the 10pm news. The media and the public do not get access to the tour vans down on the practice tee. Bob helped Perry get the story on the air, with an apperance from Bob Vokey while the championship happening in Wisconsin.

Classic clubmaking: Persimmon wood heads are milled out, then a phenolic fiber face insert is fabricated and epoxied in place.

A look into our workshop. This golf club rack is for the clubs or sets that need custom alterations or we are doing revision work. We have a separate area for the golf club repair work, and another for the custom club assembly, another area for the golf club gripping and re-gripping. We also do alot of buffing and polishing work, and we love making the classic persimmon clubs too.

Throwback Thursday: Its 1979. Bob is in his workshop tapering and shaping the necks on persimmon wood heads. This was always a rather laborious step in the craft as there is also alot of hand sanding involved. A good eye for club shape and patience always makes a big difference.
