Hey there, it's been a hot minute since I last posted, and I just realized that some of you may still think I'm in the UK!

But guess what? I've been back for quite some time now! Here's a photo of me hugging a giant redwood tree as solid evidence of my return. I've just been enjoying a looooong social media break to reset and recharge.

The even better news is that I have availability starting next week! You can easily book your session online using the link in my bio. Looking forward to seeing you!

First day of treatment with the athlete went splendid!

The setting is an absolutely gorgeous 1750s Georgian manor on the banks of the River Severn.

I don’t think it can get any more quintessential english countryside than this!

Surving on 3 hours of sleep, gluten free pastries, and pure excitement about working with this athlete!

Flying to London is no feat and I am still struggling to recover from the jet lag.

They say it takes 1 day to recover from 1 time zone and I crossed 8 🤯🙃!

Any secrets or tips you can share? I’m in desperate need of all the help I can get.

Next stop, England! From the woods of the northern coast to the bustle of London. I’m off to help out another international athlete, thanks to 🏃‍♀️

Staying healthy and happy during this ongoing pandemic is fu***ng hard!

Even tripling my self-care routines doesn’t alleviate the sense of isolation and loneliness I feel at times.

Having remote emotional support via FaceTime, text and social media is great, but it still doesn’t satisfy the need for physically present community.

PS, eating two bars of chocolate a day doesn’t help either (I know, because I tried).

What helps you maintain your sanity while protecting yourself and your community? Asking for a friend…

Rest and recovery between workouts are necessary to help your body adapt and recuperate.

Research shows that in order to build muscle tissue, our bodies require a longer rest period.

It also indicates that the body needs at least 24 hours to fully replace our muscle’s stores.

One rest day a week will not only help to repair tissue, and build/restore reserves, it will also reduce mental stress.

Happy National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day!
I couldn’t imagine life without my pup, Pudge. I found him six years ago at a shelter and we’ve been inseparable since. If you’ve met him, you know that Pudge has only one mode: HAPPY. His tail never stops wagging, so look out for your knees! He gives me endless cuddles and joy everyday. Please consider adopting your next pet.

I was diagnosed with scoliosis in my early 20s. The terrible back pain kept me up at night and seriously impacted my quality of life. I tried everything from chiropractic care and massage to traditional doctors, but nothing ever made a lasting difference. I thought that I would live with this chronic pain forever—until I discovered hands-on manual therapy. This journey inspired me to enter the preventative healthcare field to help others on their path to a pain-free life.

Taking time to reflect...

I’ve experienced some extreme lows this past year, as have so many others, but through these ups and downs I’ve come to recognize my strength and resilience.

Such struggles have inspired me to further my education and to share my knowledge to help more people live pain-free.

So go ahead—give yourself a break. It can be a challenge to let ourselves slow down. But, your need to replenish and play is as important as your need to get through the to-do list.

I’ve learned to intentionally schedule ‘free’ blocks of time. I use that time to fully rest or engage in simple activities that bring me joy. It’s like a mini vacation for my mind and body.

The harder we push ourselves, the more we also need to replenish ourselves. Carving out a little “me time” can make a world of difference.

Sleep plays a key role in your health.

Studies show that getting less than 7–8 hours per night can increase your risk of developing heart disease and diabetes.

Follow these simple tips to increase your sleep hygiene.

This is my 44th hour of anatomical dissection training with Thomas Myers. A few weeks ago we explored the Cranial Nerves. It was so amazing to see the anatomy up close—especially the bundle including the Vagus Nerve.

The Vagus Nerve is an important weapon when it comes to fighting stress. It acts to counterbalance the fight or flight system and can trigger a relaxation response in our body. Deep, slow breathing is one of the easiest ways to access the power of the Vagus Nerve. Sometimes simple practices can provide a profound effect.

If your eating and exercise are on point, but you still don’t feel or look the way you want, poor sleep may be to blame.

Everything from lucid thinking, to good decision making, to proper digestion, to high performance is heavily dependent on getting good quality sleep.

Unfortunately, more than a third of adults get fewer than 7 hours of sleep each night, the minimum needed to keep your risk of health problems in check.

When in doubt, rest more!

Prioritizing our personal needs over work can feel selfish at times, but neglecting self-care can result in exhaustion and burnout. This common problem can cause deficits in our relationships, and it can also have significant health impacts.

This year I am integrating dedicated personal time into my schedule each quarter. This practice will allow me to be more creative and energetic—giving me the fuel to better show up for my clients.

I encourage you to intentionally retake your personal time. Move yourself up to the TOP of your to-do list!

Balance is important. After a busy week, I tap into my parasympathetic nervous system with relaxing activities like hiking with Pudge. Simply feeling the sun on my skin is a way to decrease stress.

The parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) regulates our sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight). Including varied parasympathetic-inducing activities in my week like stretching, talking to a loved one or spending time in nature are healthy examples of tools I use to down-regulate an overactive sympathetic state.

What helps you relax?

You don't have to invest a lot of time or thought into stress relievers. If you’re ever feeling unbalanced or overworked you can easily incorporate these activities into your daily routine.

Round ✌️here we go! Just got the second dose of the vaccine and finished a workout.

I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Studies show the vaccine to be 94% effective at preventing the spread of infection! What an amazing feeling to be contributing to our community’s herd immunity.

Teaching my first online class as an adjunct teacher at Lane Community College was daunting, but delving into my second semester with a wonderful group of students, I am amazed at how fulfilling it is. I have discovered a true passion for sharing knowledge and creating a collaborative environment that informs and inspires my students. In short, I am having a blast!

Here’s a snapshot of a few of our class practices:

At the beginning of each class, we do a parasympathetic down—regulation to prime our nervous systems for learning and we end each class by sharing our self-care goals for the next week.

Would you be interested in learning more about the science of stress?

Keep an eye out for new online mini-courses in the future!

Finally! It was quick and painless and I was even able to get a workout session in afterwards. I’m honored to be able to get the vaccine early and to feel even safer than I already do at work. I’m still open and taking appointments. Looking forward to continuing to keep the community safe. 💉😷
