My daughter turned 14 this week and my mother is moving into her new home on the property in a week and a half so there has been a lot going on!

I will never get over how beautiful Taylor looks in this photo captured by a couple winters ago. The beautiful jewel tones in their wedding flowers were so perfect for that winters day. Humboldt County is really a beautiful place no matter what time of the year.

I’m excited to share that next Sunday afternoon, I will be at the bridal show at the redwood acres fairgrounds in Eureka! I will be sharing a booth with my dear friend Sarah from and her darling Flower truck!

Now for the mushy-
Can you believe it? 21 years later babe- you and I still making it happen. Still madly in love with each other (even when we are actually mad).
Still 2 very different people coming together to become 1. How blessed are we that we have each other through this life. I really wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else. Those laugh wrinkles on my face will be worth it years from now. I’m thankful to call you my best friend and to continue telling our love story together. Happy Valentines babe.

Flashback to this beautiful day filled lovely bouquets that overflowed with lovely flowers; including my own cutting garden grown blooms.

It’s always so special to include flowers that I have grown from seed and loved and cared for.
When the sweet peas are extra sweeter because they are locally grown in your florists garden 🧚‍♀️
That is always the goal- using as much local flowers as I can and especially from my own garden flowers. It doesn’t always happen and rarely can I use only that but when it does,
it’s magic 💫

These bouquets had a mix of market flowers and my own garden flowers. The end result is to always get you what you want but when I can do as much of it locally, then I know it’s extra special.

I feel amazed by all the love here on this platform and all of the new faces following along. I never imagined for this account to grow the way it has when I started this 6 years ago. It’s one of those “is this really happening” moments and I’m thankful for it.

Sitting here reminiscing on where this 🌸 journey all began. I started Misty Mountain Flora 5 years ago. I can’t believe all that has grown and blossomed over those last 5 years.
I began my path very simply- from the ground up.
My love for growing things in nature is really where it all started. Growing a garden was what I thought would be symbolic of who I always wanted to be.
Back when I was 19 years old, I had these ideas of who I wanted to be when I was older. I wanted to be a wife. I wanted to be a mother. I wanted to live in the forest- particularly the redwood forest.
And I had this dream of growing my own flowers, and selling them at the bottom of my long driveway. You see, I used to drive this country Road in Aptos, California, when I was going to Cabrillo junior college. There was little stand at the bottom of this long driveway in the summertime where there were buckets full of fresh flowers. I always imagined this person who lived up on the top of that hill, growing her own flowers, and just living the life. I wanted to be her. I had no idea who she was. I just had this idea that that’s who I wanted to be.
20 years later, I became that person. I checked off all the boxes of all the things that I want in my life.
Adoring husband ✔️ 3 Rad kids ✔️Living in the redwood forest 🧚✔️ growing my own, cutting garden at the top of my hill and selling my flowers ✔️
What I didn’t realize is that I would do more than just grow flowers. I would end up designing beautiful weddings with these flowers. I would find a skill that I didn’t really realize I had.
Reflection is so key to growth.
Sometimes to move forward, we need to just sit and reflect on where we started and remind ourselves of who we are . I’m just a lady growing her flowers on her little mountain with her family by her side. So simple, so timeless, so humble, so slow-just the way it was always meant to be.

I have been reminiscing much lately and am thankful for a album full of images and videos to look back on.

Just here in my “walking off the main path” era. I’m still here and still a floral designer/ floral preservation artist. I’m just taking a break. My social media has been quite lately and will stay that way for a while. Don’t worry though- I’m just recharging that battery for next year.
