Kinsman Farms

Our Story

Our Family has been farming this land for over 50 years. While we spent many years in “commercial” farming raising corn, wheat, soybeans, and feedlot livestock; we recognized over the past decade that that was not a sustainable future for small farmers like us. So, we began our first CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program in 2004. Since then, that CSA has grown exponentially and we recognized that there was a demand for local, healthy food produced in ways that are sustainable and transparent to the consumer.

Over this transition period, we planted over 100 additional fruit trees in our orchards, expanded our vegetable gardens, added hoop houses to extend our growing seasons, began planting ancient grains to grind our own flours, and began raising heritage breed turkeys, chickens, Berkshire hogs, and Highland cattle on pasture.

In 2017, we began our first Farm to Table Dinner & Farm Tour series. We partnered with a highly acclaimed chef with a passion for high quality, locally grown, and organically produced ingredients to create 5 Course Dinners highlighting foods from Kinsman Farms and other local Northwest Ohio producers.

Every day is still a learning process; but, we are embracing the challenges are are excited to be a part of making our community, region, and world a healthier, more sustainable place. We hope you will join us on our journey!
