Water is the most common contaminant in aviation fuel. Because water is denser than 100LL, you'll find water settling to the lowest part of the tank. When you see it in your sump cup, it will look like clear bubbles (or a clear layer) at the bottom of the cup.

IDAHO FALLS — The NTSB has released over 200 pages of investigative documents related to a plane crash that killed three Idaho Falls businessmen and six of their family members.

James Hansen, Jim Hansen, Kirk Hansen, Stockton Hansen, Logan Hansen, Kyle Naylor, Tyson Dennert, Jake Hansen and Houston Hansen all died when the Pilatus PC-12 they were in crashed in Chamberlain, South Dakota on Nov. 30, 2019. Josh Hansen, Matt Hansen, and Thomas Long were seriously hurt but survived.

Advanced Pilot Training for the Low Time Pilot | CTS Blog There is a new trend in pilot training that I had the chance to witness first hand in my initial Falcon 2000 Type Rating class. I must admit, this new trend makes me uneasy on multiple levels.

CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF!

Did you know the only time you'll hear the word "Takeoff" is when a clearance is attached to it. In other words...if you call tower and advise you're ready, the proper phraseology is "Ready of DEPARTURE". Once you are "Cleared for takeoff" this is the only time you'll hear "Takeoff" being used.

This verbiage came about after the canary islands accident between KLM & Panam.

Same owner since 2007! I’ve flown this airplane all over the place when I was 18-19. I also took my instrument instructor checkride in this airplane.

Here are some tips for a successful human/automation relationship:

🛩️ Understand how your automation works and how it behaves when it isn’t working.

🛩️ Understand where your automation is getting its information and how it will respond if that info is missing or flawed.

🛩️ Know all the ways to quickly disconnect your automation and revert to hand flying.

🛩️ Practice hand flying regularly to keep your skill and confidence levels high — sims work well too.

🛩️ Commit to regular proficiency training like the FAA WINGS pilot proficiency training.
