Peg-asus is our pegged legged gal that we just adore! 😍 Guessed to be a deformity at birth, we have no history on how her little leg ended up the way it is. She is an approximately 7-month-old, female Pitbull type that snores when she snoozes. 😴💤
Hands down, Peg-asus is the sweetest, most social girl with such an upbeat personality, everything is ☀️ and 🌈; I’ve got to hand it to her, she doesn’t let her disability slow her down! 🤏🏼 She gives her all to keep up with best of em’! She greets everyone that enters our lobby with wagging tails and puppy dog eyes that beg for a good girl pet. 🥰 Peg-asus loves humans of all sizes, she’s definitely a “people’s dog”, but she is also great with other dogs! 🐶 She follows you around like a little shadow, never straying too far and is perfectly content laying at your feet. Peg-asus will love a home anywhere with anyone, as long as it’s filled with love. 🫶🏼She will be an amazing companion; like State Farm says, you’re in good hands. 😉

- please muzzle your dogs if they do not do well in the presence of other animals or if they are aggressive.

To date, I think today was my most favorite transport yet! 🩵 It wasn’t the biggest we’ve ever done but definitely the most special! 🙌🏼 21 dogs are headed north to find furever! 👏🏼 Out of the 21 dogs sent, 12 of them were long timers; they collectively had 1,012 days under the collars! 😱 We also sent 2 blind dogs and a heartworm positive dog. I’ve said it a million times but rescue is one of the best things that happened to our shelter! We are so thankful for our partners and transporters, they are heaven sent for our animals!

Popcorn is our bite size, pint size, mini but mighty ball of sass! 😍 She’s an approximately 6-week old, female with the softest coat, sweetest little nose and wee tiny toes. 🥰 Her brothers have been adopted and now Popcorn is left all alone, someone come adopt this mass of sweetness! 🥹❤️

Oak Hall Episcopal School celebrated National Dog month to the fullest! 🎉

Photo #1 features a cart full of goodies donated by their “Kindness Crew”! They brought all kinds of things for our furbabies 🦴 and brought pizza and cookies for staff! 🍕🍪 They sang us a song, took a tour of our shelter and of course played with some animals!
Photo #2 features Oak Halls student council members! This was their yearly donation drive for AAC and they filled our van from front to back with everything that is listed on our most needed donation list on top of a monetary contribution!
Photo #3 features a class visit at Oak Hall with AAC alumni “Winston”! The visit consisted of a staff member talking to students about what our shelter does and the importance of responsible pet ownership.

These are just a few families that were created during our Bissell adoption special! 🫶🏼 Long timers, new comers and everything in between! So many animals found a furever home! 🏡 Thank you to all of our adopters for saving a shelter pet and our partner, BISSELL Pet Foundation!

The last of our long timers finally have their ticket up north! 🎟️🙌🏼👏🏼🥳🎉 However, we need your help to get them there! They, along with several others, are leaving October 24th and but the 12 featured will be in doggy daycare for 20 days; our shelter is covering boarding fees, which is $4,320.
Each dog has to be spayed/neutered and receive their rabies vaccine before they leave! 💉🪡
Our goal is to raise $1000! For each dog, the medical cost is $70 and we’ve got 12 dogs that will be boarded. The remaining $160 will go towards gas and travel expenses getting them there; any donations received that exceeds our goal will be used toward future transports. Each individual photo will have each dogs name and length of stay posted; you can sponsor a dog(s) or just donate to help us reach our goal! Please consider donating to help our dogs finally get out of the shelter!! Donations can be dropped off in person or sent via PayPal or Venmo.

Spal pal is our gentle giant, our 95 pound teddy bear. 🧸
On his hind legs, he easily stands at least 5’.
Spal is an approximately 4-year-old, male Anatolian/Husky mix; thankfully he carries more of the Anatolian characteristics and behavior. 😅 He is social and friendly, but chill and mild mannered. Spal is great in group play and with other dogs, but he realllly loves the ladies; he will roll around like a puppy letting them jump all over him. 😆 He loves being outside and considering his breed combination, it’s not surprising.
Spal pal is the sweetest guy and will make an awesome addition; he’s a hefty hunk of fur so I can’t say he won’t take up much space but it will be well occupied. 🥰

Kenny Mark (now named Lucky) has spent the last 148 days living in our shelter, today makes a fresh start; day 1 with a family to finally call his own! 🎉🥳
The best part? This is his new owners first time adopting a dog! What better dog to save than one that has been in a shelter so long! 👏🏼 Lucky will be joining a new 4-legged sister named Lucy! We are so excited for “Lucky”! 🙌🏼🐾
