Step into The Irving Convention Center and The Westin Irving Convention Center for the show you know and love, and step out of the convention center into our own little slice of Akihabara.

All the way from Japan 😱

WeebCon is incredibly grateful to have the prestigious Hirokatsu Kihara join us as an honored guest. Kihara-Sensei will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of “My Neighbor Totoro,” sharing original art pieces from the film, and leading panels giving us a glimpse behind the scenes of Studio Ghibli’s Production Process.

Hirokatsu Kihara is a highly accomplished industry veteran, with a career spanning several decades. He began his journey as a production coordinator for the anime movie "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" and quickly caught the attention of director Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki then headhunted Kihara to join the team at Studio Ghibli.

During his time at Studio Ghibli, Kihara worked closely with Miyazaki and played an integral role in the production of several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, including "Laputa: Castle in the Sky," "My Neighbor Totoro," and "Kiki's Delivery Service." He went on to write a series of horror stories that have been adapted into movies and manga. Even partnering with renowned horror Mangaka Junji Ito.
