With kids going back to school right around the corner it means its time to think about back to school lunch ideas! Maybe your child does the cafeteria lunch. This is a great time to talk to your child about making healthy choices when choosing lunch. Remind them to choose drinks that are sugar free, and that foods healthy for your body are generally healthy for your teeth! We always encourage water, fruits and vegetables setting them up for a healthy growth!

Although you may take your child at a younger age, we recommend taking your child to the dentist when the first tooth is coming out (erupting) or by 12 months of age. This visit offers guidance for good oral health, cavity prevention and helps promote your child becoming comfortable at the dentist. This helps prepare both you and your child for a lifetime of good dental health!

Friday night baseball!

We are so excited to kick off our sponsorship for Tinker Time at Upcycle. Tinker Time is open exploration and unstructured playtime using the the supplies at this creative reuse center and is open to all ages. Shirlington Pediatric Dentistry is honored to be able to support a local center that not only is encouraging the arts but turning trash to treasure. We cannot wait to see the beauty our community can create!

Wonder why x-rays are a big deal?

Trust us on this one, they are so important! During a child’s dental exam we look for things like swelling, tooth decay, pathology, and so much more, but without an X-ray we would not have the ability to see deeper than what we can see with just our eyes. Dental x-rays help us get a more complete evaluation!

It’s Dental Assistant Appreciation Week, and we appreciate these girls! We believe in a culture of happiness, support and teamwork, and are so grateful to have the support of this team!
