We're thrilled to share the fantastic news that the Festival of Colors, hosted by the Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) along with Cook Counseling, Jim Murphy (CLS), CS Graduate Faculty and MS/PhD graduate students was a resounding success!
The Festival of Colors is more than just an event; it's a celebration of unity, joy, and the beauty of diversity. With hues painting the sky and laughter filling the air, our GSA community came together to revel in the spirit of togetherness.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this event – from the organizers and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to the enthusiastic participants who brought their infectious energy. It's your collective spirit and passion that made this celebration truly unforgettable.
As we reflect on the joyous moments shared during the Festival of Colors, let's carry forward the spirit of unity and camaraderie in all our endeavors. Together, we can continue to create meaningful experiences and build a community that thrives on diversity, inclusion, and celebration.
Stay tuned for more exciting events and initiatives from GSA as we embark on this journey of togetherness and empowerment. Let's keep spreading colors of joy and positivity wherever we go!

SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING
Experience a celestial phenomenon
April 8, 2024 • 2-4PM
During today’s North American total solar eclipse, the D.C. area will experience approximately 87% coverage, a happening that won't cross North America again for another 20 years.
Beginning at 2PM a few free eclipse glasses, Moon Pies, and Starry soda will be available, for groups to share, so you can safely observe. Peak eclipse is at 3:19PM.
For those without access to eclipse glasses, an eclipse viewer can be fashioned out of two sheets of paper. To see the eclipse, let the sunlight shine through a pinhole in one sheet and fall on the other sheet, where an image of the sun will appear.
Eclipse viewing glasses sponsored by the Virginia Tech College of Science and Department of Physics. Questions? Contact Kerone Wetter at [email protected]

Kicking off Women’s History Month week 3 with Actress Michelle Yeoh. 🎬
Michelle Yeoh is well known for her martial arts roles but also comedy and drama in movies that go as far back as 1984. Yeoh is the first Asian actress to win the Oscar Academy Award in the category of “Best Actress”. Michelle Yeoh was known for performing her own stunts in several movies!
Yeoh had several talents besides being an internationally know actress. She was a ballet dancer, won Miss Malaysia beauty contest and is trilingual (fluent in three languages).
